Probability with poker hand - Horusmaster - 2008-12-03 I got this assignment today in data management that's due next week. Basically we have to figure out the probability of getting each type of hand with a poker hand of 5 cards. I already finish them in class, but I just want to make sure they are all right. So if any of the answers here are wrong, please tell me, but don't tell me the answer cause I'll figure it out myself. Royal Flush: 4/52C5 => 0.00015390771% Other Straight Flush: 9*4/52C5 => 0.00138516945% Four of a Kind: 13*48/52C5 => 0.024009603% Full House: (13*4C3)*(12*4C2)/52C5 => => 0.144057623% Flush: (13C5*4-40)/52C5 => 0.196540154% Straight: (10*4*4*4*4*4-40)/52C5 => 0.392464678% Three of a kind: ((13*4C3)*(48*44)/2!)/52C5 => 2.112845138% Two Pairs: ((13*4C2*12*4C2)/2!*44)/52C5 => 4.753901561% One pair: ((13*4C2)*(48*44*40)/3!)/52C5=>42.25690276% No pair 100% minus everything above. =>~50% (too lazy to calculate now) Probability with poker hand - Nikkey - 2008-12-03 Is this in a game of poker, or is it by just pulling 5 random cards out of a full stock? Probability with poker hand - Dusk - 2008-12-05 Did you include A2345 as a straight? Because I don't understand why you subtracted 40. No time to verify your answers, sorry. Probability with poker hand - Horusmaster - 2008-12-05 Dusk Wrote:Did you include A2345 as a straight? Because I don't understand why you subtracted 40. No time to verify your answers, sorry. Yea, A2345 is a straight the reason i subtract 40 from straight and flush, because it does not count straight flush and royal flush. there are 36/52C5 straight flush and 4/52C5 royal flush. So I subtracted 40 in total. Probability with poker hand - Russt - 2008-12-05 Heheh. I once did all of these in the 5th grade or so just for the hell of it (yes, I really had no life o-o). I didn't know combinatorics, so I ended up having to add/subtract/multiply a whole bunch of fractions and pomegranate. I think I got the right answer for most of them eventually. Probability with poker hand - Management - 2008-12-08 Should include Five of a Kind as a hand, since it's poker in general, and some games can play a card as a wild. I'm not sure if that'd throw off your other results though. Probability with poker hand - MasPan - 2008-12-26 Is this assuming 1 deck? Because that actually can make a difference when there are multiple players (but then everything becomes way too theoretical, so...yea...) Nice job having the patience to do statistics tho - I hated it, boring and complex... I prefer logic puzzles over math-based puzzles. So yeah, this list of probability would obviously be wrong during a real game of poker. But, it's not that hard to "calculate" those values, lol. I found this 20 seconds after I saw this thread the first time. It won't help anything by copying. Probability with poker hand - Horusmaster - 2008-12-26 Devil's Sunrise Wrote:Why? It won't help anything by copying. I'm lazy haha. I don't like doing math hwk cause it's too easy. I'd rather do questions from projecteuler. |
