The Alchemist - silverquiver - 2008-11-29

So here is my apparently not-so-lame attempt at creating a job. I always wanted an Alchemist job in MapleStory so a few months ago I began editing sprites in paint. I don't know if I'll ever be finished working on these but here is my progress so far.

The alchemist uses the elements to attack enemies. By using INT and LUK, the alchemist has a variety of element based skills. Their weapon of choice is a glove with alchemic circles drawn on it. They wear goggles as hats and overalls (much like pirates, uni-sex and uni-color).

Here are the skills, I am only going to add skills that I came up with myself.

Well thats it for now! I'm still working on these so stay tuned! Cool
All images were created or edited by me in Paint. Rolleyes
I'd love to hear any suggestions. Biggrin
Credit to Tykian for the idea of Armor Coat.

EDIT: Made text color coded for easier understanding.
EDIT 2: Finished Homunculus and Chimera skills.
EDIT 3: Added two new skills and changed the holy blast skill.
EDIT 4: Added three new skills that the Homunculus can use and a new second job skill.

Reserved because this is a work in progress.

The Alchemist - randompeep - 2008-11-29

This is not a lame attempt; some of the art is actually pretty good. Just know that homunculus already exist within Magatia.

Thank you!
Yeah, I was thinking of taking the homunculus skill out because it didn't really fit in. It seems like a mage using super transformation. For now I am going to keep it up there and try to come up with better skills.

As she said, that attempt is DEFINATELY not what I call lame, it's actually one of the best drawn images I've seen in this forum. I reckon more ideas in skills are needed but overall well done Biggrin!

Thank you! I take a lot of pride in my art, I didn't know I did that well though. Cool

Heart Thank you! Okay, I have changed that line since my attempt appears to not be so lame.

Oh nuuuz! Recolored Shinobi Bracer!

Any idea on what the clothes (not the weapons) would be like?

I am actually dissapointed in myself for making so many recolors BUT I will certainly be making more original things in the future.
Overalls range in looks from medieval full body robes to more modern coats and cloaks.
Shoes will be simple and not too colorful unless it is required to match the overall.
Hats are goggles, some will cover the eyes and some will not.
Gloves will mostly cover the wrist area because the Alchemist's weapon dominates his hands.
Thats about as much though as I've put into that area.

Kabanaw Wrote:Maplers have long anted to become more powerful after reaching level 200. However, this is not humanly possible. However, it is possible for other creatures. By using ancient magic, at level 200 characters can obtain the skill "Dragon Transform," which turns their avatar into a human-like dragon he same size as a regular avatar. In this form, the character gets +20% HP and MP, +10% to all stats (stacks with Maple Warrior) +10 WA, +20 MA (stacks with skills+pots) and +50 to all other stats. Each job can also use a new skill while in this form, with the theme of dragon attacks.

After this skill is obtained, the level cap is raised to 300, the exp needed is reduced back to 5 million, but the player also recieves only 20% of the exp.

Each job has 5 new skills, each with a max level of 60. the amount of skill points needed to max these skills is huge because the skills are extremely powerful.

Sorry that I don't have any specific skills or designs, I just imagined this up last night.

If you have any extra ideas, say them and if they're good I'll add them Big Grin

That is a very interesting idea. You should make a topic on this idea and elaborate further.

I thought I did make a new thread. Hit new post by mistake. >_>

So you can go ahead and un-quote me Big Grin

Finished coloring the Chimera and added the skill icon for both Chimera and Homunculus.

The Alchemist - Blankout - 2008-12-16

I like the fact that there are many pictures. It takes effort to come up with ideas, but takes even more effort to actually show what you're creating.

The Alchemist - NoWaizMatt - 2008-12-16

The picture for Chimera looks amazing.

The Alchemist - sosyoav - 2008-12-19

i think its a good idea and you did great job,
just take it more to the potion direction

The Alchemist - silverquiver - 2008-12-20

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback guys!
sosyoav Wrote:i think its a good idea and you did great job,

I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought of a skill that is much like the alchemist skill that hermits get to improve pot consumption but to be used by alchemists as a party skill.

The Alchemist - Tykian - 2008-12-25

was thinking maybe you could add like:

Armor coat: Consumes mineral ores to shield the user. (the first ore in the etc would be used, this includes all non-jewel ores, as well as lidium (orihalcon, silver, adamantium, steel, gold, bronze)
Level 1: 10 mp, Consumes 1 ore, Gains 30 weapon defence, 15 magic defence, and 1% resistance to all elements for 60 seconds.

Level 10: 22 mp, Consumes 2 ores, Gains 60 weapon defence, 30 magic defence, and 5% resistance to all elements for 120 seconds.

Level 20: 34 mp, Consumes 3 ores, Gains 120 weapon defence, 60 magic defence, and 10% resistance to all elements for 180 seconds.

It would be a 1st job buff. The buff in itself is somewhat useful at all levels, and even from the start. The defence is more useful in the early game, and the elemental resistance makes the skill worthwhile in later jobs, even to 4th. I think it follows the "alchemist" job title well, and may raise the worth of some ores a bit, while not being overly expensive or cumbersome.

I like the idea, I might even use this with the stats tweaked a bit but I will give all credit to you. A skill that could partner with this might be something called Mining that would increase the drop rate of ores.
