If you look at the Fennec Fox's package, it says:

The Fennec Fox is a Multi-Pet that will be happy to join you, even when you have another pet summoned. It is patient and has a higher tolerance for hunger than other pets. (Up to 3 can be summoned.)
So, does Multi-Pet finally work in MS? Has anyone here bought one?

That's a separate system that requires the snack. From the wording (and I think this is how KMS' multi-pets work), it seems that you don't need Follow the Lead for this pet to come out.

^ Follow the Lead is an invisible skill and should be given to you automatically when use more than 2 pets.
