With the alien invasion of Masteria comes a whole new way to power up your gear: the Alien Socket System. Just ask NPC Bo to drill a Socket into your item, and you'll be able to place a chunk of Nebulite -- a powerful alien ore -- into it to gain all sorts of new abilities.



Sometimes, you may not be happy with the power imbued in a particular chunk of Nebulite. That's where Alien Cubes come in. Alien Cubes randomly change a chunk of Nebulite's power to something new. In the process, there's a chance that the Nebulite will be upgraded to the next rank (D, C, B, or A--with A being the highest).

Use the Alien Cube to transform a chunk of Nebulite from ordinary to extraordinary.

Shielding Wards protect your equipment from being destroyed by scrolls. (Not all scrolls have a chance to destroy your items. Read the scrolls carefully to find out if they do.)

• Drag and drop a Shielding Ward onto the equipped item before you start scrolling!
  
• Shielding Wards will be used up regardless of whether the upgrade scroll was successful.
  
• Shielding Wards cannot be used on items that have been successfully enhanced to twelve stars or more. (This limit was increased in the Legends update from the previous eight.)
  

Shield Scrolls, on the other hand, protect your equipment from having its "Available Upgrade" count reduced by a failed scroll.

• Drag and drop a Shield Scroll onto the equipped item before you start scrolling.
  
• Make sure that the item you want to protect shows that the Shield Scroll has been activated. Some items cant be protected with Shield Scrolls, so double-check!
  
• Shield Scrolls will be used up regardless of whether the upgrade scroll was successful.
  

You might want to protect items you really like with both a Shielding Ward and a Shield Scroll!

You only get 1 Positive Chaos per character, Adel, they're 50%, and they take a while to get. I'd say that would merit a guardian scroll. There's probably other scrolls too.

As for the SS, that's an A-ranked nebulite for weapons, and those can get 20% or 25% boss damage. You can't get 35% boss damage because that's part of the S-ranked stat table, and that nebulite is only an A rank. If you kept alien cubing it, you can get to a higher rank (like rare epic unique). They probably implemented S-rank now so they don't have to do it later. It's possible they just aren't telling us about S rank to make it a secret they want us to figure out for ourselves. Or it's just they'll have a super alien cube for 2.5k nx that lets A-rank go to S-rank nebulite, you can only use super alien cubes on S-rank nebulies, and super alien cubes give a greater chance of changing ranks than regular alien cubes.
