Spring 2012 semester classes. Post' em here! - みもと - 2011-12-21

If you've already registered for your Spring 2012 semester classes, feel free to post them here. I'd figure this thread would be a neat idea, just to see what everybody else is taking for their upcoming semester.

I have my classes set for Tuesdays & Thursdays, because I'll be working 4 days a week too. I'll probably only have one full day to study, or do anything else. Oh well.

Do certifications count? I'm gonna get my CCNA in Q1 of next year, I've decided a degree is entirely worthless after 2 years of trying to get an IT job so I'll just start getting as many certifications as I can until people want me...

I hate freshmen/sophomores....They have it so easy with a lot of classes that last only an hour. Rolleyes

My classes are

Level 2 of Painting (im staying more focused this time around)
Digital Photography (putting my new camera to great use here, but I am worried that I will need to be able to use studio strobes when shooting)
Music in History (fills a graduation requirement of an upper division class outside of my major)
Advanced Artistic Problems: 3D (this is the highest level class for Ceramics/Sculpture, and is basically independent study)
Arts Seminar (required class for graduation, should teach us about building a portfolio)

As its looking now, I could technically graduate next Fall, but I think I might spread the classes out, since there is a capstone class (basically a semester long project) and I believe we need to intern somewhere as well for a semester.

Honestly, a cert is definitely better than a degree. A friend of mine never set foot on a campus once in his life, and he's 24 years old right now. He has multiple certs, and he's working for a company. Honestly, if you have the brains for the job, you'll be fine. I think a degree is only 'good' if you want an increased chance, but even then, everybody's aiming for a degree nowadays, so not like that's even saying much. I kinda wish I didn't go to school, and just thought about getting certs when I was younger. But since I'm almost done, I'm not gonna stop, or else I'll be paying loans out of my ass asap before even finishing classes.

Heh. I'm required to take that, one Marketing, as well as one Business class. >________> Both of which, I'm probably gonna end up taking during my last semester. FFFFFFFFF-

Don't know my timetable yet, but Statistical Physics, Further Quantum Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics,Optics, Electromagnetism and a Semester Long Physics project.

I've never understood why american degrees make you take modules in random other subjects.

If modules means classes, then most universities require a "core" curriculum consisting of usually social sciences and other classes, sociology and philosophy for example, to give a well rounded education not just in the area you are majoring in but in others as well.

Currently still a freshman, but I'm done with all my GenEds, so I'm now hopping right into my major courses!

Major courses:

PolySci 302 - American Presidency
PolySci 305 - Congress and the Legislative Process
History 394CI - Ideas that Changed History ("Integrative Experience" major requirement)

Others:

Education 391R - Residential Education and Community Development (RA-required course; I'm applying for that position for the upcoming school year)
Music 565 - Orchestra
Education 393E - Legal Issues in Student Government and Higher Ed

This upcoming semester will somewhat be tough for me, but I'll get through it. Fall 2012 isn't going to be nicer too; that's when I'll be taking my max load of major classes (2 PolySci, 2 History courses respectively). X_X

 Spoiler

CAP 4064 - Network-based Multimedia
CIS 4361 - Applied Security
CIS 4517 - Needs Assessment & Tech Transfer
CIS 4920 - Professional Development II

I'm mad because I wanted more than 4 classes this semester but financial issues made me register late so they were all closed by the time I could register. Also, that random 8 AM lab up there.

Oh well, I do like the free time.
