EDIT: Folders in the form of
0x80030002_[IGN]_[DATE]_[TIME]_MapleStoryUS
are eTracer error logs from whenever Maple crashes.

I saw folders like this a while ago, but all the log file contains is a bunch of what Google determines to be Chinese.

Unless the thread creator has some actual basis for saying that this is the source of the hacks, all this does is create a false sense of security.

Pretty sure that has to do with the fact that you were obviously fairly sure the link wasn't allowed.

Found a folder with Maplestory.exehkcmd or something like that and a few notepads about maple. None had my login id/pws though, but I haven't gotten hacked yet.

Very difficult to prove this is an actual preventative, but your info in one less place is always nice I suppose. After checking my Temp folder, nothing Maple related there.

Also found a folder/notepad file with the "0x80030002_[IGN]_[DATE]_[TIME]_MapleStoryUS" format, containing what seems to be chinese/korean/whatever.

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to help with the hackings. I'm deleting those files anyways Eek

That's an eTracer error log? Who cares! I'm overly paranoid about security anyways!

I think the "Tutorial" is to warn people about actual loggers that save info in the temp folder under a folder with the character's IGN.

The ones you guys are finding are the wrong ones. Those are the error logs created whenever maple crashes.

Because both the size, content, and location of the folders should have clearly indicated that it was an error log created by the client itself?

The original thread didn't give pomegranate for reason. All they said is "delete these files to be safe".
Oh, and the folders are in the exact same format as the one screenied.

Topic talks about it being used for keylog purposes, which is why deleting it will help you.
