Can't you see the feelings rushing out from that window?

Wow, so the artist is asking viewers to reflect on themselves or something when they look at it? Frankly, if a piece of art needs to be described or the viewer needs to be lead to think a certain way before even looking at the painting, i'll say it's garbage. Thus, this is garbage. Someone's going to get ripped off.

It's a rectangle. I wish rectangles that I drew sold for almost $95,000.

I really like this distinction between art and junk. I remember when I went to Chicago and heard about Cloud Gate, I thought it'd be one of those junk pieces that people call art, but when I saw it, my opinion completely changed and I didn't need anyone to tell me that it was supposed to do this or inspire that. In contrast, I went to this Modern Art Museum and all the pieces had captions and stuff, but they were crap.

Oh it's called Cloud Gate? I went and everyone just called it The Bean. It's really cool though.

Depends on whether it's:
A paper bag
A meat cleaver
A representation of human hubris
a large stone
or what?

You see, thats where the art comes in. Everyone imagines it as something else!

This is like the case i've seen in an expo some time ago. There was a canvas that had a piece of paper saying it was worth 20k dollars. It was named "The Dark Star", but when you looked at it, it was just a white canvas, with a small X painted with black paint.

I sincerely hate the fact some artworks are worth a thousand dollars, when the one who painted it can't even pineappleing hold a pencil. Guess my concept of art is too damn different from the one those people who buy these pieces have. :|

Like my teacher said some time ago, "Modern Art was an interesting thing, an innovative concept that wanted to break the steryotypes of art, people did it for a reason, and it was an amazing thing, BY THAT TIME. But, when people do it NOWADAYS, it's just anachronic, just a way to make money, having absolutely no skills."

I would say that is the best win you can get, draw a canvas inside a canvas and tell people you just have to imagine the piece of art, call it something like imagination and to make it look like art don't make it too good.

I guess the people that buy those things for those prices are just like the emperor's new clothes, in which they tell themself (or are told) "I get it but uneducated wont get it and call it trash" when theyself think is trash and that a 1 year old could do better.

I was referring to Cloud Gate, AKA The Bean. The one Salguod was talking about, in Chicago, not the 60,000 pound rectangle.

The only reason it sold for what it did is because its from Banksy. That said, whoever bought it was dumb. Its too blank to garner that price, even for Banksy.

Quote:The work echoes the long-running French play Art.
In the play, which enjoyed a long run in the West End, two friends are divided when one of them buys a work that is a blank canvas.
One character, Serge, is proud of his 200,000 franc acquisition but his friend Marc describes it as ‘a piece of white s**t’.

Lol.
