The more you have of stat, the less useful it becomes? - Kizo - 2011-09-10

So there was a discussion about this empress overall with +100 dex & our friendly member started below that chaosing for att is better than scrolling for dex. In all my time of mapling, I always thought 5 stats = 1 att. With the new legendary potential, we can achiever 300%+ or like 5000 stats+.

I kinda understand what he's talking about but can anyone provide a more mathetical approach to this.

Locked Wrote:The more you have of stat, the less useful it becomes. Your ratio in a sense widens. Using it in the most simplicity we can suppose we have over 4000 DEX but we only have 300 attack, meaning that our simple ratio would be 4000:300, or 13 DEX to 1 Attack. Plug that into that overall over there and you have an 8 attack supposed overall that you could have achieved easier with chaos scrolls.

Now let's say Give has a hacked bow, which we'll put him over at 500 total ATT and 4000 total DEX, you'd have 4000:500 or 8 DEX = 1 Attack which means the overall gives off about 12 attack total in terms of ratio. The sense is the same because the concept is there, more worth of something the more useless it becomes.

It's really very simple.

In broad terms, your damage = <constant> * <total_primary_stat> * <total_att>

This means that if you, for the sake of discussion, increase your primary stat by 10%, you get the exact same effect as increasing your total attack by 10%.

So if you have a total of 4000 dex and 300 w.att, for example, 40 dex are worth as much to you as 3 att. Both will give you the same damage boost of 1%. But if you have 4000 dex and 500 w.att, 40 dex are worth the same as 5 att.

I hope that's a bit clearer.

Unless there was a big change in the damage formula, this is simplified version (someone will make a post with all the fancy math latter, anyways) of what happens:

If you increase your stats (both primary and secondary, but the secondary stat makes little difference at higher levels/stats) by 1%, your damage will increase by 1%. If you increase your attack by 1%, your damage will also increase by 1%.

If you have 4000 mainstat and 200 attack, 40 mainstat (1%) is worth as much as 2 attack (1%). 40 mainstat : 2 attack = 20:1 mainstat:attack ratio.

Also, attack is hard to get compared to stats (you can get %stats potential on basically everything, anyways).

What if someone were able to get 6000 mainstats, attack will still be better? o.o

Edit: forgot to add after Legend Patch, will there be a new formula?

As you've just been told twice, that'd depend on how much attack you have.
There is no static ratio.

If you have 200 attack and 100 main stat you'd gain more from 1 stat than 1 attack, if you swap it around you gain more from 1 attack.

however, don't forget the %dex gthe player already has, using this example

4000 dex to 400 w.attk, every 10 dex is worth 1 attack, meaning the 100 dex overal is worth 10 attack, that's "easy" to achieve with a miraculous chaos, however, if you add potential (say, 300%) you re getting 100 dex+300 dex, 400 dex from that overall, you'd need the overall to have 40 w.attk for it to be better, which isn't easily done.

as far as i know tho, feel free to prove me wrong.

After waking up, I fully understand now. Tongue

Thanks for the thorough explanations.
