Professions help - Katie - 2011-08-27 After coming back to maple when I'm bored, I've been putting off this whole professions thing. It's really confusing to me and I've tried to google and even search SP for help. I'm still super confused about how to do this and how it even works. Does anyone have a simple, and I mean super simple, guide that you can share? I'm a blaze wizard and I chose Alchemy and herbalism. Not even sure if that's a good idea lol.... Professions help - Celan - 2011-08-27 Herbalism and Mining are main things. You get Ores/Herbs by haveresting the Veines/Plants with a Pickaxe/Shovel. You can smelt the ores/cook the herbs to get herb oil/plates/stones. At a small chanse, you can get pulvers from cretain ores. You will need cretain items (Herb Oil bottle/ Forms, wich can be bought at the top platform, secound guy from left) From mining you can get to Smithing (MAKE UR EQUIPS YOURSELF) and Accessorry crafting. (making rings, pendants, etc.) From Herbalism you get Alchemy, where you can make potions to heal yourself, but also giant transform potions, and Potions wich give ATT, ACC, DEF, LUK, STR, etc All need cretain things wich can be bought at the guy you can buy the bottles and forms. They also have to stand somewhere in arentmill (place you learn professions) [for the cretain professions] Also, as an Alchemist, you can "extract" items, so you get item crystals. The crystal form and the number of the crystals per item depend on the item itself. You can also combine two of the exact same items to combine the item's stats (or something, i don't know exact) You also can get cretain items at haveresting (mining veines/getting herbs), like "Orange Imp" or "Gem Imp". You can "use them", and then feed them with equipment/etc items. (equips are way more efficient). I don't know myself, but you can get bags wich hold more items of the profession and such. Fatigue is what everything there has. Haveresting gets you 1 fatigue point. Smithing/Accmaking is 5, Alchemy 3, but when you make an "Extractor" (others can extract their equips at an extractor, but they pay you a fee per item, as example 1k), it gives 15 fatigue. Max is 100 fatigue. When you try to do something wich would make your fatigue over 100, you can't do that. Per houer, your fatigue lowers per 5. There are also drinks for sale, one wich takes away 5 fatigue for 300k, or 15 for 1 mil. But you can only use 3 of those potions per day (also mixxed, like you bough 2 of these and 1 of that and used all, you can't use others anymore), so it's not really good. By Crafting and Haveresting, you get points into yo traids, wich give bonuses, like less EXP loss at deaths, def, etc. The Traid "Charm" gives a pocket slot at around it's level 20~30. There is a guy at henesys wich sells pocket items for 50k, wich give 3luk, 200 HP/MP, INT, DEX, avoid/acc, etc~ Or by mining, you can get a potential glass function, and at cretain levels of the traid, you have an perma-like -lv30/-lv70/-lv120/nolevel limit indentifying glass. So no more meso spending. Yeah, that's all with the Professions, I think. I wrote this up myself quickly, and there were no posts at the time of writing. Celan~ Professions help - Katie - 2011-08-27 So should I of chosen Herbalism and Mining? Thanks for the help! Professions help - Lomelindel - 2011-08-27 I tried out mining+smithing on my mage initially but then switched to herbalism+alchemist after some thought. One of main things things that made me switch was because I realised that mining raises the Insight trait (which increases accuracy and avoidability) whereas herbalism increases the Empathy trait (which increases max MP and Quest %). Questing is the main way I play Maple and the % bonus from increasing Empathy is handy, and as a mage I didn't really need accuracy and avoidability. Furthermore, I realised that clean equips weren't that expensive to get from Free Market or through a bit of grinding monsters for it. I also use a lot of potions so I ended up switching to alchemy to make my own potions. If you still want to go with mining, I would recommend taking up accessory making probably instead of smithing. Accessories seem to sell for a decent amount of money, but I don't know how difficult it might be. Professions help - Raul - 2011-08-27 Katie Wrote:So should I of chosen Herbalism and Mining? Thanks for the help! No, you can't. The 3 possible combos are Mining+Jewelry, Mining+Smithing, and Herbalism+Alchemy. Basically: Jewelry can make some pretty fantastic accessories. It's very common for them to come out with potential, so 3% or 6%stat earrings are very common and cheap now. You can also make some good rings, but only one of them can have potential, and it's very hard to get the recipe for it (drops from zakum at a low rate). The belts and shoulderpads that you can make are heavily outclassed by the silent crusade ones. You can also make face accessories (only mask), which can have wAtt/mAtt (basically only for if you didn't get DB blood mask). Smithing: Weapons and equips. Reverse and timeless equips, and level 130 equips. Easy to get %stat equips now, and pre-potted weapons (screw you, 90% pot scrolls). The amount of PoT's that you need for reverse weps/equips has been lowered significantly, but you need recipes for them (iirc, you need recipes for everything 100+, and select things below 100. Alchemy: Fusing and extracting, plus your own private potion shop. Fusing works this way: buy random equips from a town, fuse them, hope the come out with pot, reveal pot, hope for %stat, rinse and repeat. Basically the equivalent of smithing, but you need to have 2 of the equip in the first place to fuse (harder for high level equips). Extracting is good for those pesky equips in your inventory that no one will ever want in their right mind. Extract them to get item crystals (needed for accessories/equips/weapons), and to free up some room in your inventory. Can charge quite a bit for high-level extractors (or get fames if you set it up for free, either one works). Potion shop is quite self explanatory, except for that you can also make buff potions or transformation potions, which can raise stats/attack or turn you into a monster/giant for a period of time, respectively. Professions help - Katie - 2011-08-27 Ah ok. I get it now. Kind of lol. I saw the pic in the professions post with all the different plants to mine or whatever. Is there a list somewhere of where the locations are for those so I'm not wondering around like a tard trying to find these things? Thanks for the help guys! Professions help - modular - 2011-08-27 herb / vein locations personality data collection recipe droplist (useful because monster book doesnt support searches for items) materials for ____ recipe some other things: -fusing equipment takes 2 of an equip and rerolls stats, possibly turning unpotentialed into potentialed at about 15% rate (if 2 potted items are combined you keep the potential at about 95~98% rate). its like cheap/free cubes if you can obtain a bunch of crappy potted items. -if youre looking to maximize your characters traits, choose herbalism. miners cant get over level 10 empathy. -half earrings are an excellent thing to make on crafters -shoes are pretty good to make on smiths, but not quite as easily accessible as half earrings -120 gear is lame, still takes a crapton of time pieces. compared to the required materials for 110- gear, not worth the expense of PoTs and recipes when you could probably make 5-10 lower level equivalents and fuse them for better potentials. |
