Quote:[16:42] <NX_Eurydice> Question: <HexedBehold> How much of an impact does normal equipment play (Not equipment with Battle Stats)? Will a new player be able to compete against someone who has spent a large amound of NX and Meso with any chance to win?
[16:44] <hime> (Hey newcomers, we will post the log of the chat after but if you have any questions please Private Message me or Sabina!)
[16:44] <NX_Eurydice> Answer: Your equipment will have an impact, players invest a lot of time into getting great gear and that will still be important, however, to ensure that PvP is fun for as many people as possible, the impact of your equipment will not be overwhelming. If can help, but a better player in slightly lower gear will still win most of the time.

But the question is, how much funding does it take to make a difference?

Everyone knows that +Watk/Matk and +Battle Atk is good.

I heard people saying 1 BAT = 5 wat

Still wondering how important Battle ATT is compared to regular attack.

Suber Wrote:Still wondering how important Battle ATT is compared to regular attack.

Regular attack is battle attack. You need more w.att to get more battle attack. If you get battle attack on stuff, it's more useful than getting w.att for PvP purposes but otherwise useless.

I know, but how do you determine if a normal equip is better than a PvP equip? Based on Regular Attack and Battle Attack.

serulin Wrote:I heard someone say 1 BAT = 5 wat
Can anyone confirm this?

I would only go off the assumption that 5 att = 1 battle attack even though that's completely rumor at this point. The fact that it takes >2 att to = 1 batt has to be true though.

The extractions might've just been parsed this way arbitrarily, but + battle mode attack shows as %. Obviously +1 watk < +1% damage for most characters, that could explain the discrepancy.

Over 9,000 dollars worth of NX.

Okay that's going over the top. But seriously, if Maple PvP is anything like PvP in every other game, it's there's no real number to make a difference. Skill helps a lot unless your opponents are goldbuyer tier players.

I think its safe to say that there isnt much difference at all. I play my BaM (which everyone I talk to considers OP as a class) with well over 20b in equips (potentialed though), and I still get beat by arans with nothing but a clean PSB sometimes. I am in no means geared for PVP as I focus pretty much solely on % gear and could care less about a few matk. Meanwhile my girlfriend who is spec'ed perfectly for pvp (15 att pac, 23 att scg, FS, perfect neschere, basically no potential, etc) rarely places 3rd let alone higher. I've never scored below 3rd in my couple hundred matches.

If it makes a difference it seems far from significant.

First of all, your score or what place you came in is not a good indicator of damage nor if a class is good or not because EVERYONE says they place top 3 lol. Many classes are preset by nexon. Warriors are meant to basically be untankable. If you duke it out with them you aren't going to win. You need to make use of your invincibility / teleport around and hit him without getting hit, and use magic.

It is pretty insignificant as hime noted, however, if you have enough of it (godly funded enough), perfect pack / perfect gloves (or hacked items) im sure they will do more than help in the hands of a skilled player.

For example this dark knight was doing on avg double the amount most drk knights were doing on me.

As for your gf, you could very well just be better at pvp than her. Just because she hits a little harder doesn't make up for the skill. And she doesn't sound THAT funded or funded enough in this case to make a big enough difference to make up for her skill.

So apparently equips DO matter in pvp. - Valon - 2011-07-25

Funded nowadays mostly aims towards potential. Just saying in the case of 120-180 pvp, her equips really couldnt be a whole lot better. "Godly Funded" doesn't go much further than a perfect weapon, gloves, shoes, belt, and cape. She's not all too far off on any of those. Maybe lacking a maximum of 10-20 atk. For a more concrete example, she pointed out to me that most of her US hits were simply "hit", but when she applied the full challenger set buyable with emblems, she started getting more cools than hits. This makes me assume that pvp attack is a bit more significant. Considering she sacrificed her MoN (arguably the better pendant for PVP assuming you arent rocking a CHTP or Rising Sun) for a challenger pendant which isn't really anything special. Which makes me wonder if it really is % dmg. As for skill we played each others characters and shared strategies, with about the same results in each game. I feel like map circumstances and different classes in the game really decide it more so than anything. Against a load of warriors and mages I can easily win. It's the games full of NL's and other classes that depend on fleeing more so than attacking that she tends to do better thanks to her range and mobility. While "skill" tends to be the key word in every PVP discussion I've encountered, when it comes down to it "circumstance" seems to be far more deciding. Different maps are better for different classes as well. You could argue that you just have to learn to play in a versatile manner, but each class is limited to their own skill set regardless. There are always gonna be different layouts that determine the match outcome far more than the ability of each player. I've noticed most unfunded BaMs I encounter seem to do almost as well as I do. While I don't have perfect equips, im sure to have a 60-70 matk advantage on unfunded BaMs easily.

tl;dr pvp attack seems noticeably more effective than regular attack, but map/opposing characters/class determine game outcome most.

I sometimes pvp with a level 47 dagger(73 attack) instead of my 155 attack killic and I see no noticeable difference in killing time at all.

So apparently equips DO matter in pvp. - raizoo - 2011-07-26

I've been using a 94 attack crossbow and I'm a 17x MM. Everyone else has said attack buff + [assuming max] Snipe = 50% off someone's health and it's doing just about that for me.

I'd love to test this out since Zenith is small but it's hard finding people to team PvP with. D:

So apparently equips DO matter in pvp. - Exidous - 2011-07-26

Has anyone tested MW30 damage vs no MW30 damage? If there's no change, it'd be an easy way to conclude either

A) MW does nothing
B) STR/DEX/INT/LUK do nothing

So apparently equips DO matter in pvp. - Devil - 2011-07-26

I would say:
- 30% class based
- 30% best connection based
- 20% equips based
- 20% skill based

This is off course not including no-delay / score hackers, otherwise it is:
- 70% hacks based
- 10% class based
- 10% best connection based
- 5% equips based
- 5% skill based

So apparently equips DO matter in pvp. - Avior - 2011-07-26

i've heard that nexon doesn't playing their game.

Hime doesn't. Or at the least, she's not very knowledgeable about Maple as she claims. Hence why here in SP, we hardly believe everything she says. Chin

Anyway, I'd say the same sentiment other people have said: While equips would help a bit, it's mostly skill that helps you out the most in PvP. If you know how to play your class and pit it right against others, you'll score well.

Well that makes NO sense whatsoever. How is it that without hacks class matters 1.5x as much as equips, yet with hacks it matters 2x as much? 0.o The ratios seem a bit off here :O (sarcasm/joke, gotta point it out since people tend to take stuff as insults too easily here)

Actually id say its more like:

50% class
30% skill
20% equips

Class really makes a huge difference. Every class has a weakness but if ur skilled and have beter equips u could beat a class you normal cant. For example.. A db vs a warrior.. yea u could technically kill it.. .but itd take u a while, and ud really have to not get hit.. and ud have to run away alot. IM basically talking 1v1 here. Its completely diff when its a whole FFA everyones gonna sneak atk u at some point.

I dont factor in things like connection and hackers, but how the game would be played if it had no problems.
