Trying to reduce my lag in TF2 - NoJobNoRules - 2011-07-13

For some reason my internet can only handle TF2 about 80% of the time - the other 20%, it lags and makes it hard to play. I believe that the problem is my internet connection dropping out/reducing my speed. I am playing wireless on my laptop (and read a couple of things that plugging in directly can help), but it's not that practical.

After doing some searching on my own for ways to reduce lag, here's what I've set in my launch options for TF2:
Code:
-novid -dxlevel 80 +mat_antialias -novid -nojoy -noipx -nocrashdialog  "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 440 -full -novid

My internet specs:

And some of my computer's specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6600 2.20 GHz
4 GB of RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

Any suggestions or solutions are welcome.

How far away from your router are you? My Internet is like 400 KBPS. I run TF2 no lag most of the time. I do have a core i7 and 6 gb of ram, but I think it's the internets fault.
You could have a b/g/n wireless card and a b/g/n router but yours could be like mine where if one person is using b or g, it slows the entire network down to b or g. That's probably it...

That's AT&T for you. I don't pay for it, my parents do, so I'll take it for free, but still. :/

That could be, as usually someone is always on another computer or streaming netflix to one of the TVs. There's a total of 4 computers in my house (my laptop and one other, and 2 desktops).

And the router is right on the other side of my wall. Like this:
router||my room
With the || being the wall between them.
