To Wii or not to Wii? - Erebus - 2011-07-10 I've been hesitant to venture into the Nintendo console pool post the GameCube era, even to this day nothing has REALLY made me want stray to far from my PS3 and 360 and since I already own the Nintendo handheld system I can say I'm not exactly anti-Nintendo, but the Wii never really was my thing. However after E3 and getting a look at the Wii-U i can say I want to get the Wii now, if for any reason, so I can have something I can play current Nintendo gen console games on before the Wii-U becomes implemented (I'm not trying to start a console war, I'm just saying I'd like a Wii before it turns into the Wii-U). In all honestly I'm more interested in the virtual market then the actual Wii games but that's just my opinion. I've rambled long enough so I'll just get to the point. Sell me on the idea of buying a Wii. I like the price and virtual consoles as far as game exclusive content goes, I'm a bit mixed, I only like non-traditional mario games (E.G. Paper Mario), not to mention since the Wii-U may be coming out soon I don't want to buy this and just be dropped in a year, market wise (E.G. There's no point in buying a Wii if it's just going to be outdated and abandoned in a year). Of course I could be over thinking this since there's barely any details on the Wii-U. To Wii or not to Wii? - Random_Overlord - 2011-07-10 Nintendo stated that theres going to be a new console released this November/December. I'm in college for computer design so all my friends except for like two are PC gamers, and we have plenty of 360 and PS3 "party" games. As a "preemptive strike" let me say I don't like Mario kart or Smash Bros (well I don't dislike smash bros it's just not my first choice) To Wii or not to Wii? - Corn - 2011-07-10 Well, what about Super Mario Bros Wii? To Wii or not to Wii? - Netto - 2011-07-10 Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is pretty dam good in my opinion. To Wii or not to Wii? - Erebus - 2011-07-10 Corn Wrote:Well, what about Super Mario Bros Wii? Not a real fan of traditional Mario games. I'm not anti-Mario, I love the Paper Mario series and the Mario and Luigi RPG series. That and I own the DS version of that game anyway. To Wii or not to Wii? - Takebacker - 2011-07-10 If you hack a wii, it's the best thing ever especially if you're only interested in the virtual store since you can install all those games for free. If you don't want to hack it...it's ok i guess. There are some limits to the system though. If you travel with it a lot like i do and you forget the sensor bar or the wiimote, the whole console is unuseable. If you hack it this isn't a problem for the most part though. Random_Overlord Wrote:Nintendo stated that theres going to be a new console released this November/December. No, WiiU is slated for 2012. I honestly don't mind paying... I saw some details on it(Wii-U). But not enough to sell me on it. Biggest problem is to see how long they'll put the console before the games. And the fact they haven't released any details on it's online capabilities or how long it's going to take to get it to use the virtual console. To Wii or not to Wii? - Chicocl - 2011-07-10 I own a hacked wii and the best games so far in my honest opinion are: Zelda Twilight princess, Super smash bros brawl is pretty cool for parties (the tournament option is very funny), Monster hunter Tri is a awesome game just like the PSP ones (Big fan of monster hunter in genereal, playing MH 3G for PSP), Mario kart is good for parties too, Super paper Mario is ok, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Metroid other M and some virtual console/wiiware games. In a general opinion the wii is for parties, it has good games for parties like mario party, mario kart, Brawl, Wii sport, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and others. But for solo it is ok nor bad nor good just ok. To Wii or not to Wii? - Sarah - 2011-07-10 It sucks. Made the same thread in November and got really pumped but have only bought 4 games for it (including Symphonia 2 today) and have really rarely touched it or even wanted to. Not to mention Nintendo's current stance on Operation Rainfall. To Wii or not to Wii? - shouri - 2011-07-10 Well, I'm an RPG fan (kinda)... don't play too much else, so I can only really give insight into RPGs. Final Fantasy crystal chronicles: the crystal bearers Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Super Paper Mario Little King's Story Arc Rise Fantasia Final Fantasy 4: The after years Shiren the Wandered (Think of it like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.... except not pokemon) Monster Hunter Tri (haven't personally played this, though my best friend recommends it) On the virtual console: FF2/3 Chrono Trigger Secret of Mana To Wii or not to Wii? - Nalek - 2011-07-10 Pro tip: Wii Sensor Bar can be replaced by 2 candles. The action and gameplay are much like the classic Metroid games, but the rest of it can be a turn-off for a lot of people. I would suggest borrowing it or renting it and trying it out before buying it.) The Conduit Conduit 2 Resident Evil 4 No More Heroes Or, if you're interested, all of your favorite NES/SNES/N64 games through the virtual console. Note : I may have missed some games, so excuse me if I did. Keep in mind that not all games are for everyone. I would suggest looking into these games, reading about them, and watching videos about them to see if they're games for you.
