Lots of clarification + questions - Kaasoljoyyx - 2011-07-10

Just did a lot of reading on stuff chaos brought (Been kind of inactive for a few months) and I wanted to get some clarification and questions answered

1. The profession system and the trait system are not related at all

2. The max level of professions is level 10. The max level of traits is level 99/100 (SS showed level 99 but people assume it is 100)

3. Traits was known as personality

4.
Herbalism --> Alchemy
Mining --> Black smithing
Mining --> Accessory (Also referred to as a jeweler)

5. Once you pick a line of professions, I heard you can give it up and go choose another one. Will you start back at level 1 on the new one? Also, if you went back to your old one, would you be level 1 again

6. Why is the DAR so valuable. I thought it had slots for potential + it came with WA, but from extractions it doesn't have that, and it's basically a lower level VIP ring

7. All equips/potions/everything from recipes on profession system, once created, can be freely traded (Some equips are binded on equip, but everything is freely traded until then, correct?)

8. What are some notable things from each profession system (e.g. DAR)

9. Profession recipe making is pretty much like the old maker system, more or less (So basically you take A + B + C and you get D, provided you have the recipe)

10. How do you level up a profession (I understand there's a fatigue system)

11. What professions are generally better for main characters (Level 200) vs mules (level 50~17x)

i.e. It'd be much better to do ____ profession on your main because you'll most likely be able to level it up easier, while ____ profession is better on a mule since the recipes generated from it aren't that worthwhile and they can be obtained through tedious work

12. Besides corsair boat being unlimited now, did corsairs get anything worth mentioning (besides maybe some % skill changes or w/e). Also how does a corsair compare roughly dps-wise/versatility with other classes/a mech

13. What's the artisan gear?

14. We got professions + chaos updates. Are the only things left to get PVP mode, ice knight PVP, and the GMS exclusive content?

15. Is there anything worth mentioning coming to maple in the next few weeks/months (chaos related)

1. 3 of the personality traits can really only be leveled with through professions: Empathy, Insight, and Dilligence

2. Yes, professions max at 10, and personality traits max at 100. The SS shows you still being able to get EXP at 99, if it was max, it'd be 0/0.

3. Yes, I like to call them personality traits though.

4. Yes

5. Yep

6. It gives attack through its effect, it's a buff that stacks with other attack buffs. It gives 10atk and 10matk.

7. Mostly, yep, except as you said, those equips that bind upon equipping, but those can be PSoKed afterward.

8. Smith - Androids (they're fun), level 130 equips, 29atk stars, 2k per slot stars, new bullets, lower PoT requirement when making Reverse stuff
Accessory Crafter - Dark Angelic Blessing, the All Mighty Ring, Pauldrons, the Rising Sun set.
Alchemist - +Stat potions, +AllStats potions, +ATK pots that stack with other stuff, +MaxHP potions, +MaxMP potions, lots of transform pots.

9. Yes. Smith is the closest to how maker used to be, but you can make all class equips instead of just your own. You can make 40-130 armors and 70-130 weapons. There's no color choices and no upgrade system like how maker had gems.

10. You just make stuff, you gain a certain amount of exp for each creation.

11. Basically, it doesn't matter what level you are, just what level the skill is, so any character can really be any profession, however, I'd recommend a pretty strong, perhaps not high leveled exactly, character to be an Accessory Crafter or Blacksmith, since they have some equips that require some PvPing to make.

12. I couldn't tell you.

13. No idea

14. Yes

15. Not that I know of

Fear you sound like a freaking genius with chaos and anything involved with it. Where do you learn it all?

Lots of clarification + questions - Kaasoljoyyx - 2011-07-10

Okay, that helped a lot. As for #1

1. But you can level those without actually being part of the respective profession right?

I'll probably do accessory then since it seems the most helpful. Alchemist potions seem beneficial but a mule can handle that pretty easily it seems.

Lots of clarification + questions - Grey - 2011-07-10

Not really, you can get exp for them from quests and stuff, but not enough to get them really high without leveling them through your profession.

Though perhaps Insight, which is mining or revealing hidden potential items. If you reveal 50 items with the 128k glasses (6.4m per day) that'd get you to the daily cap and you could probably level it pretty quickly, but that is rather expensive.

As far as i know the only hard one to level up without being a herbalist is the personality trait that increase Max Mana. The rest can be leveled with any other proffesion.

Lots of clarification + questions - Kaasoljoyyx - 2011-07-10

Ah okay. A new question

16. I saw someone talking about "optimal level to make something". Is my following assumption correct:

If you create something at a certain profession level, you will get more/less EXP depending on what level the profession is. The most EXP you can get for a certain recipe is at the optimal level

Lots of clarification + questions - Grey - 2011-07-10

I'm not really sure what they mean by optimal level, but yes, you do get more or less EXP for creating items depending on your profession level, it's about a 5% increase or decrease per level, you get more if it's recommended level is higher, less if it's lower, however, the chance of success is reduced greatly. Creating an item one level higher than you has like, a 77% success rate.

Wait, are you saying that equipment such as the rising sun belt can be PSoked after equipping it?

Many quests give personality, I have level 6 personality on my Evan.

Yeah but sooner or later you are going to run out of quest. If you want that trait to be max level you need to be herbalist yes or yes.

The one that's "hard to level without professions" is probably Diligence, neither of us said anything about maxing them.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I didn't think that this deserved its own thread, and this seemed like a good place to ask on. Do the plants and ore veins drop specific seeds(or flowers)/ores, or do they all drop all of them with a higher chance of the better ones with bigger plants/veins?

I'm almost certain that it's seperated into ___ ores come from ___ rock [likewise for flowers], because I never got "low level" ores from "high level" rocks.

I realized that sitting on a chair reduces fatigue. But, I'm wondering how long do you have to sit on a chair to reduce fatigue?

Sitting has nothing to do with it.

Quote:You will gain Fatigue Points while performing profession skills. If your Fatigue Point meter fills up, you won't be able to use profession skills again for a little while. You can reduce your Fatigue points by using certain potions sold by Nack in Ardentmill or by using a Fatigue Reset Coupon from the Cash Shop. Your Fatigue Points will also reduced by five each hour, and they will be completely reset to 0 each day at 12 AM Pacific.

Colors basically match up. Silver veins drop silver and sapphire, purple veins drop amethyst and orihalcum type of thing. I think blue is steel and aquamarine, red is garnet and adamantium, etc.

I have a question that goes back to which profession should be on your main. If you have a mage as your main character, should you be an herbalist in order to gain empathy faster?? Or would it still be better to be a jewelry crafter because of needs for pvp?

I see you are an I/L AM, if Takebacker's somewhat distant rant on PvP and Mages is confirmed, then I would suggest Jewelcrafter to take advantage of Gallant Emblems. Blacksmithing would also be acceptable, 130 equips need them. I personally find that there is a greater likelihood to make mesos going Jewelcrafter at least in the early going, I haven't seen many 130 equip recipes floating about. When Larson starts selling them, switching off may be beneficial depending on the demand of the Rising Sun Set and 130 accessories vs. 130 equips.

On Empathy: You're an AM, you don't need the paltry amount of MP Empathy will provide.
