Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Bananusaur - 2011-07-09 Ohai thar, well I have just recently started to do Parkour and my cousin is going to be teaching me some things next week and was just wondering about training. When you started out how did you train your endurance/body? I currently suck at endurance and It's going to get in the way I think at least and what did you first learn to do in Parkour/Freerunning? I didn't know where to post this topic so I placed it here, thanks for any advice~ Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Devil - 2011-07-09 For you, I hope you have a good medical insurance!
Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Bananusaur - 2011-07-09 Lol, I don't need that! I am probably going to do something stupid though o.o Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - chrome - 2011-07-09 i'm actually building up to this. i started working out decently once a day six days a week three weeks ago: today i'm upping that to twice a day, focusing on core and avoiding isolation to build endurance. i dunno how relevant this is but i'm on a low-carb, high fat, high protein diet as well. as for how i started i was pretty fit to begin with, i just didn't care for a diet. i have a slack off week every three weeks where i let myself catch up on carb intake and cut exercise to three times a week. i do a juice fast for three days the following week. Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Shidoshi - 2011-07-09 I don't officially do Parkour, but I just love jumping over things while spinning 360, walking on walls and go down stairs while spinning/dodging/jumping. How do you go about really doing it? About being fit to do it, I have awesome equilibrium, low weight (60kg) and a good amount of leg strength. What I lack is a city with good places to do it, some way to fall without hurting myself and learning to do flips. I should also go back to running to get more endurance. And Shidoshi it depends on which you practice because Parkour is going from Point A to B as fast as possible and Freerunning is all about style. but if anything I lack endurance and I weigh about 60kg as well and have a good equilibrium and pretty good leg strength o_O (I am a long armed and legged person plus my legs are pretty strong to support it for jumps and climbing.) As for walking on walls, how2do? Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Punch - 2011-07-09 Turtally Wrote:http://tempestacademy.com That's sick. Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Worthyness - 2011-07-09 no personal experience, but i figure the common sense of: learn to pace yourself and stop when you need to, should apply. If anything, to increase endurance i say jog a couple of miles everyday nonstop + work your core to be able to tuck and roll like they do in those flips. From what I believe the best way to do free running is to just keep going- to stop = stopping momentum and without momentum, you won't have that extra umph that you may need for the next trick. Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Shidoshi - 2011-07-10 I'm more on the freestyle part, I love doing everyday things like stairs or crossing the streets in different ways, like going up stairs while turning 360° with every 3-4 steps or jumping over fences and stuff to do a shorter path from the metro to my home while trying out new ways to do so. Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - DeanNim - 2011-07-10 i prefer planking. just as dangerous but not much movement. /lazy Parkour/Freerunning anyone? - Bananusaur - 2011-07-10 DeanNim Wrote:i prefer planking. just as dangerous but not much movement. Planking is amazing but can be painful depending on what you're planking on (a pole for example) |
