#5 is pure gold. I'm surprised it didn't make #1. I laughed so hard when I played that video.

DUM DUM DUM DUM DUM DAAAAAAA DUM, DUM DAAAA DUMMMM DUMMM.

"Hmmm, that music seems a bit weird. Does the Queen usually play that sort of music?"

This totally. Because, that does accurately portray the video game industry now and if you deny that anyone doesn't take part in that to a slight extent (that goes through a regular publisher, Activision, EA, Nintendo, other japanese ones) you gotta be fucking stupid.

ValvE doesn't really take part in it, as they make sequels that are actually enjoyable and different.

L4D2 is debatable.

Why do you think I worded it so that Valve and Indies would be exempt? They pretty much are the last people in the gaming frontier.

You notice they have a fear of the number 3 with every single one of their games.

Well that article made me depressed. Here's one of my favorites to stave off the horribly true thought:

Yeah, read that today. Agreed so hard. Its a shining reminder why I haven't really bothered with a PS3/360. I won't deny there are eye-catching gems in there. But as a whole, I end up prefering my handhelds and downloadable titles over the big bucks games.

Realistic graphics doesn't really sell to me: Its easy to mocap and scan faces day in and day out. You get great quality graphics sure: but as the article expresses: the work never stands out.

I respect being creative and making interesting art and design styles far more. (Bring back Timesplitters :'[ ) Activate my imagination, rather than the part that checks to see if everything is porportional. Kinda like a mechanically done drawing vs. freehand...

Which is why I am so in love with the mass effect series, amongst other reasons. It's part of the culture for why gaming sucks, but it's not at the same time.

You read my mind, Mass Effect was one of the games I was thinking about. Everything I've read about it sounds amazing.

Interesting coincidence, just this morning, read a small blurb on the news saying video games sales hit the lowest it has in 4 years. Then again, the wait for the next gen systems could be to blame. (though they also claimed that less and less games being released was part of the problem)

Bleh disregard that, turns out that was just regarding a 1 month sales total. i don't find 1 month enough to be alarmed about.

Also, I'm going to be blamed for bringing this up again, but again, I blame it on the site, because this was the first thing at the link provided.
Quote:Being a scientist has to be tough. They spend their days staring down microscopes, knowing full well that when someone asks, "What do you do for a living?" any answer they give is going to elicit nothing but blank stares.

When it comes to dealing with people who believe in creationism, it's got to be especially tough. Typically, scientists shrug it off as a fact of life, knowing that no matter how much evidence they collect, some people will simply never accept it.

Creationists tend to be less resigned, and often try to prove the legitimacy of their theory by compiling lists of scientists who doubt evolution. All in all, hundreds of these lists are circulated. When you take a close look at the list of supposedly well-respected members of the scientific community, you notice that they often include television writers and lawyers, and that the people listed as actual scientists either weren't actual scientists, completely disagreed with that statement they supposedly agreed with, or don't actually exist.

Deciding they'd had just about enough of this bullpomegranate, The National Center for Science Education decided to compile a list of their own -- one with very, very strict guidelines. Each scientist who signed had to agree that creationism was, in fact, silly and that it should not be taught in schools. They had to be from an area of science where their expertise was actually pertinent and, finally, because this apparently needed to be stipulated, they had to be an actual scientist. Oh, and in order to sign, you had to be named Steve or a variant thereof. As it stands, over 1000 Steves are on the list, including Stephen Hawking.

Explaining the reasoning behind the stunt, the scientific community noted that they could have easily compiled a contradicting list of tens of thousands of signatures. But focusing on scientists not named Steve would have taken too much time, and they had things to do.
