"Star's cries were heard despite a wooden board being placed on top of him and his muzzle being tied with string.
Horrified police officers then saw Star's face in the ground and when they dug him out, they discovered he had been repeatedly shot with a pellet gun.
Doctors had to remove 40 pellets from his skull during emergency surgery.
The case has caused outrage in Malta - and animal lovers are holding a silent protest in the capital of Valetta next week to express their disgust.
More than 7,000 people have given their support to Star on Facebook as they try to look for information to catch the perpetrators.

I don't understand how anyone could have the mindset to intentionally injure an animal. It's disgusting.

In cases where they're being used for food, or other necessities that we need/want (like wool, ect) then yes humans should take precedence. But even then, there are standards that have to be upheld for care and safety of those animals.
This however is just some sick bastard brutally torturing a pet for no good reason. I don't have a shred of sympathy for the person who did this and hope they get whats coming to them.
