I guess the suspension of my rights should be coming any day now. We're all doomed, it was quite obvious when we gave that troll a majority. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Sarah - 2011-05-18 Jesus christ. Not even unexpected but the thing that really bothers me about this is that he's calling it a democratic move. Democracy doesn't have the people who we don't trust to represent our riding put into a position of higher power because they're pals with the Prime Minister. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Stereo - 2011-05-18 Haven't managed to open up a dialogue with my MP yet, she didn't attend any of the debates, and she hasn't responded to my mail. (not even with a form letter) So, who do I contact next? Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - CommanderJinn - 2011-05-18 Who's your MP? Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Stereo - 2011-05-18 Susan Truppe (Conservative, London North Centre riding) Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Sarah - 2011-05-18 Stereo Wrote:Susan Truppe (Conservative, London North Centre riding) I have no idea but I bet the failed NDP runner would listen to you and help you figure out what to do (I say this jokingly but I bet you'd get results with someone who knows politics on your side) Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - CommanderJinn - 2011-05-18 I guess people just voted for the party, much like the NDP in Quebec. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Tykian - 2011-05-18 Hey now guys, nothing wrong with the NDP. Sure they may not have any experience but pomegranate, what has experience gotten us? Harper? AAHAHAAAAAAAAAAABAWWWWWWWWWWWW =( No seriously, if you dig deep into the platforms you'll see that the NDP's platform has promise, and it's not baseless. Now, I know that the money isn't there to get it all done, but one thing I've noticed from our provincial NDP government is that they're REALLY willing to listen to the public. I myself have had multiple meetings with local MLA's and 2 with the Minister of Health to discuss her current plan of treating the growing problem with opiate addicts, and why it's not working. I'll take the politician who will listen to me and try to get pomegranate done any day. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Sarah - 2011-05-18 I was actually being serious and implying that even a shot down NDP politician would be more helpful than a useless conservative. Yeah, there was approximately no information about the Conservative candidate here, or chances to meet her (unless you were a Conservative and went to one of their digs), they all stand unified (which means they all say what Harper says to say) so I'm assuming it was votes for the party. This riding used to be Liberal, but I guess people lost faith in them. Guess I could try to talk to the Liberal/NDP candidates. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Five Second Pose - 2011-05-18 I really don't understand how the Senate is constitutional considering that it's a bunch of unelected guys the prime minister at the time liked. Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - CommanderJinn - 2011-05-18 The Senate can have new legislation tabled as long as it's not budgetary or involving money in any way. Legislation also has to be passed in both the house and senate. Though the Senate rarely denies legislation, that power is always there for them to use. The terms of senators are also indefinite until forced retirement at the age of 75. Of course, they can always step down as well. It isn't, that's the genius of it all! Stephen Harper Appoints defeated house candidates to the Senate - Bahamut X - 2011-05-19 All because most of the morons out west that voted Conartist and forgot why the government was toppled in the first place. Of course this is what happens when we have a bunch of drunks in the supposed house of sober second thought. |
