I appologize ahead of time if this has already been answered (which I'm certain of, but cannot find it).

I've seen a lot of weapons with 30% boss, mixed with atk/stat/dmg/crit%. Yet I rarely see anyone with Ignore % when attacking. I'm asking myself, why doesn't anyone have this on their weapon? I believe I recubed a boss and ignore % lines. After thinking about this for a while, I believe ignore def outweighs atk/stat% if my assumption is correct.

I want to know how this ignore % works. Does this ignore the total def or the def. rate?

I'm assuming that atk % is better if ignore def only does total def.

Say a monster has 40% defense. With 15% def ignore, your damage to the monster would be:

damage = (damage before defense)*(1-(0,4*(1-(def ignore))) = (damage before defense)*(1-(0,4*(1-0,15)) =
= (damage before defense)*(1-0,34) = (damage before defense)*0,66

So it would be a 0,66/0,6 damage improvement, or 10%

That's counting that none of your skills ignore part or all monster defense.

PS: There are no more 2 types of defense, the only defense is the defense rate.

Thank you for the information. Even if I have 15% Ignore w.atk, it's still better than 6% dmg.

Not always, this is assuming the monster has a certain PDR (physical defense rate), however with certain monsters the PDR may be low enough that 6% damage is much better, which iirc on most monsters discounting bosses, 6% damage would probably better.

This depends on the PDrate of the monsters themselves.

---

Assuming you do a hypothetical base maximum damage of 10,000 for easy calculation sake.

The monster has 40% PDRate, having 15% w.def ignore would cause it to have 34% PDRate. The damage would be 6,400.
The monster has 40% PDRate, having 6% total damage. The damage would be 6,360.

---

Now, things change when monsters have a 5% PDRate.

The monster has 5% PDRate, having 15% w.def ignore would cause it to have 4.25% PDRate. The damage would be 9,575.
The monster has 5% PDRate, having 6% total damage. The damage would be 10,070.

---

Summary: The 15% w.def ignore benefits you when fighting monsters with a higher PDRate. The 6% total damage increase benefits you when fighting monsters with a lower PDrate.
