Update from Japan - MasPan - 2011-04-20 Hey guys - just a quick update - don't have my own place/internet yet, so sharing wifi with a ton of people (blaaaaaargh), so not gonna be much to this. I'll have tons of pictures and stories for y'all when I get a real chance to sit down and have some MasPan internet time. I have one picture in particular that might interest Throes, seeing as it has chibi forms of 4 of the women of Street Fighter, including Juri

Also, have some truckloads of fun! Update from Japan - Greg - 2011-04-21 Why is it that, in Japan, most advertisements have at least some portion that is written in English? We don't do that here, and I don't see other countries spelling things out for us, so why does Japan do it? Almost all advertisements/billboards/notices have an English translation somewhere. WHY Update from Japan - MasPan - 2011-04-21 Greg Wrote:Why is it that, in Japan, most advertisements have at least some portion that is written in English? Partly because it helps them practice their English, partly because it helps us gaijin, partly because Japan is weird. *Shrug* I suppose it's got something to do with the large number of American military personnel stationed in Japan (as well as their dependents, the civilians that provide staffing/support for our bases, etc). Probably similar to how advertisements in the south have Spanish on them. Update from Japan - 案山子 - 2011-04-21 I heard from some people in Japan that they think it's just for ''show'' for the Japanese, that it's not for ''gaijin'' at all. You'll find English phrases and stuff on all sorts of things, even bread. It's kind of like when we use foreign names for certain things in the States and it makes it ''more exotic'', or interesting, etc. There's stuff in English in places that don't even have any Americans, or only a handful. The stuff about the military bases and stuff is true though, you're more likely to hear it spoken around those types of areas because it helps communicate with the soldiers and stuff. Update from Japan - GMSInfighter - 2011-04-21 Wow this is really cool. Potential to be an epic thread. Update us some more when you can MoreBread mah man!
