They've always been able to get ahead from anything. They practically looked at us after we bombed them and said "Lulz, we have invented stuff that you guys will never figure out."
And they kept to their word. So yeah, most likely will stay true to the "better than ever" line because that's just who they are. Although this disaster seems to be a lot more destructive than the two bombs we gave them.

The reason why Japan got boosted after WWII had 3 reasons:
1. They traveled all over the world (taking pictures), looking for great idea's of others copied them and improved it.
2. They worked harder and especially -MORE- then any other nation in the world, 10 ~ 12 hours per day, nation wide
3. Their loans were extreme cheap, while still they were professional and delivered high quality. Lots of factories moved there.
In 2011:
1. Taken over by the internet, everyone knows everything, nothing is really special anymore, every country can do anything.
2. Also Japanese think 8 hours per day is enough (nationwide) these days, sure there are exceptions, but those are present in all countries.
3. Loans have risen to international standards, it's not really -cheap- anymore to produce in Japan.
Sure Japanese people are intellectual and inventive, and I wish them all the best, but don't expect a new post-WWII boom.
