23 is the new 65? - Netto - 2011-03-12

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/World/Story/STIStory_643106.html Wrote:A ROMANIAN woman is the world's youngest grandmother, aged 23, British tabloid The Sun reported.

Mother of two, Rifca Stanescu was 12 when she had her first child Maria. A year later she had a son, Nicolae.

Mrs Stanescu was 11 when she married 13-year-old jewellery seller Ionel Stanescu. They eloped because Mrs Stanescu feared her father would want her to marry another man. Mrs Stanescu said she had been forgiven by her family after giving birth to Maria.

The young mother wanted Maria to have a different life and urged her to stay at school.

However, Maria got married when she was 10 years old. Six months later, she gave birth to son Ion at age 11. -- KOREA HERALD/ANN

Actually the other way round. This was very common in the 1900s and the 1800s. Hell, during the entire history

At ages 10-12? I dunno man, I thought 14-17 was the norm back then for marriage + kids.

As a 23 year old I can verify that it is indeed the new 65.

Even if it was, consider that the norm today is about early 30s. Is it outrageous for people in their 20s to have kids?

Not that this isn't a fairly disturbing.

I wonder if the granddaughter will follow the family tradition, making her a great grandmother. Hell, I may even see my very first ALIVE great great great grandmother if this keeps up.

The average life expectancy in Romania is 73.8 years, and assuming a new birth every 12 years on average, she will be a great great great great grandmother when she is 72.

You act like an angry aunt, not an angry grandmother. There is a big difference.
