Best keyboard - Dusk - 2011-03-11 Mute Wrote:How long did it take you guys to get used to DVORAK? ._. Before I learned Dvorak, I typed at about 100 wpm in QWERTY, so I'm a pretty decent typist. When I decided to switch, I started one afternoon by rearranging all the letters on my keyboard to the Dvorak layout, and doing some basic online typing exercises. It only took a couple of hours to learn where all the keys were and start touch typing, although that's far from "getting used" to it. I was pulling 20-25 wpm for the first couple of days. I was still doing most of my work in QWERTY because I didn't have the time to type that slowly, but I would type instant messages using Dvorak and I'd do speed typing exercises in Dvorak when I needed a break from working. It took about 2 weeks before I got up to a reasonable speed of 70ish wpm. I stopped keeping track after that, but now I am up to about 100 wpm in both layouts.
