When Big Bang was released, and even before then, it bugged the crap out of me that most people of the same job have almost nothing making them different than one another. For the most part, people max out all but one skill for each job, and that one skill is usually one that has absolutely no use. Paladins are even less unique now that they can actually max out every single one of their skills through the use of combat orders (not useful for first and second job skills, but they can still max them out). Because of this little complaint, I came up with this idea! Biggrin

Basically, the idea is that every 20 levels, the player get's an additional point into their beginner skill book, and upon job advancements they receive one more skill point from the job instructors (automatically for Evans). None of the perk skills are meant to really cause anything game breaking, but the later ones can be very nice when combined with the earlier ones. Some of the perks are also just meant to be there for the hell of it, or to be used by mule characters.

Yes, I got this idea from Fallout, and yes, I'm very bored.

I really dislike perks in fallout new Vegas. I didn't pick any of them. I was think of taking the two perks for acc and speed to cancel it out for the lulz.
OT: if you select 10 attack based perks, it can seriously strengthen you additively.

Yeah, I tried making it so picking the attacking perks would have some minor drawbacks, but I guess 1% or 2% less minimum damage isn't that much of a balance to it.

In any case, out of all of those perks I mentioned, I'd chose the mobility ones. I'd also pick the mount perks so that my paladin's mount would be more usefull, but I guess most people would pick the damage perks and forget about the loss of mastery.

I just want to see more skill options. Instead of making a billion classes, they could've made skill trees within existing classes. Instead of Heroes being set in stone as "pure offensive, heavy melee class" it'd be nice if you could spec to be a fast moving berserker or a party-oriented offensive support class or a more balanced DPSer.

That would be awesome, but I'm not bored enough to come up with ideas for something like that. I've only come up with these because my Criminal Justice class is so boring. I do agree with you though.

Alright, I tried messing with skill requirements to make the Fourth job skills harder to use. This managed to kill a good 30 minutes for me! Biggrin

By the way, I was considering changing the rules of these Perks to make it so the player only gains points on job advancements. So only 4 perks instead of 14. What do you guys think?
