Blaze Wizards: Flame Gear or Fire Strike first? - CrimsonJohnny - 2011-02-23

Seems like I can't find a discussion on this anywhere. I mean yeah, lolcygnus, and lollevelling after BB, but I've wondered this, now that Gears isn't hax like it used to be, is it still taken first, or Fire Strike for its horizontal attacking and speed?

Mostly want to know how viable Gears is now, assuming I'm not in a large map, and don't dual channel (If people even do that anymore). Also, I believe I recall reading that Gears can't stack on top of each other like Poison Mist?

Will be spamming Golden Temple if that matters.

Flame Gear is completely useless.

Flame Strike. Flame Gears isn't based off the monster's max HP anymore, it's based on your damage. All DoTs are glitched in GMS now anyway, so.

Thanks for the replies.

Flame gear isn't useless, it just has a different use.

I maxed Flame Gear first, and I used it around pretty well, depends on the area, it was marvelous at the Captain's Mini-Dungeon and at DGP.

And it can stack with other DoTs just fine.

They are glitched as in only having the duration of level 1 for DoT time. The mist still lasts the whole 40 seconds but monsters get poisoned for very short times each time. Same goes for all other DoT skills.

I've seen that when I use Lv 30 Fire Demon on it's own, it lasts 15 seconds, but when I stack Paralyze, it lasts 10.

Why do you need Flame Gear at level 80 for a level 100 map?

These...

Flame gear does total crap damage, uses accuracy, and does not use monster %HP anymore. Accordingly, you cannot gear monsters way over your level like you could pre-BB. Flame Strike is fast, hits 6, does 400% damage at max, and telecasts very well.

Because my Blaze Wizard was already Lv 100 when Big Bang hit, I used the SP reset scroll and just added points back to Gear, it wasn't all that bad.

Flame gear will only be useful if you can't 1-2 hit the monsters with fire strike. It can start killing monsters while you are not on that area.

The % based damage that we have now deals way higher than what we had before with % of HP. It's just that we can't go to higher level mobs so it's only useful in the case aforementioned.
