My left mouse key button on my laptop broke in such a way so it lost the "recoil" part.

Explanation 1: It's stuck pressed in, but I can still use it, it just doesn't come back up on its own/at all. If i turn the laptop upside down, the key will come back up

Explanation 2: It's similar to a ball point pen that you click and unclick to write with. If the pen lost the spring inside, it can't really be used effectively anymore

Any ideas on how to fix it? I really don't want to end up opening the laptop up and fixing it that way, unless it can be done easily.

Im gonna suggest you take it in somewhere. The mouse buttons are a lil tricky to fix I think.

Have you tried removing the key? The hatches on the underside are the things that's making the key pop back up (obviously). Those hatches might've just fallen off track and/or just sticky stuff/dirt/crap got too clotted underneath them. You gotta check if the keys are removable first. Most HP laptops have removable keys while most VAIOs do not.

This is why I use a cheap standard keyboard and a mouse plugged into my laptop. xD
