I just don't get it. - KhainiWest - 2011-02-13

My wife got hacked. I'm not that infuriated about it, neither is she, it's just a game, but it's goddam discouraging, and were both obviously somewhat upset. Unlike me, my wife is pretty goddam secluded.

She doesn't own a sleepywood account, she doesnt own a basil account, she doesnt own an SP account, she doesnt smega for attention, she doesn't download anything that would be remotely keylog related, she doesn't visit tinyurl links, and her email is deactivated.

Yet she wakes up this morning, email changed, account nearly stripped, and my account untouched. I don't get it. I do everything above besides the tinyurl links, and my account is just as safe as hers. I can get everything back but wheres the goddam hole that sinks the ship?

Ugh I'm about to quit, not because of the loss but of the fear what I'm GOING too lose.

With -all- MMOs there's a risk of losing everything no matter what. It's something -all- gamers should consider when it comes to how much effort, cash or time they're putting into an MMO.

Just want a little clarification... by email changed, you mean the password to the connected email right? Or the Email linked to her account was changed?

I just don't get it. - KhainiWest - 2011-02-13

Email was deactivated for like over a year now. I don't get it, can you change a password without the email?

I just don't get it. - Corn - 2011-02-13

...now that's weird. How the hell a hacker can do something that you can't even do yourself?

I just don't get it. - CarrionCrow - 2011-02-13

I think I've heard of a guy creating a false adress like that to retrieve another guys lost password. So if her old was not in use, maybe that's how it happened. The tricky thing is how they got a hold of the information in the first place though.

That's what I thought..but her email is a foreign ISP from europe..theres no fucking way lol. I talk to the local hackers to our server and even they are blundered. Remote hack came to mind but if they have access to that, they have access to dupe hacks so whats the point?

Also theres no way they got her password, birthday/name maybe from facebook, but her name isn't common it's chinese so yeah, and locked out too the public. Her name is gurranteed public, but her birthday? No. Her msn was fine, and I can type her password now since it's changed but it was like i69Vgd* with the asterisk. And her pic was even more elaborate >_>;

I.DONT.KNOW.

Anyone who could have wanted to get her account (in-game or out), anyone she might have told her acc info? Any time she played at a friends house?

I just don't get it. - KhainiWest - 2011-02-13

I can't name one person that dislikes her. Honestly she gave NX for free if you were friends of friends. She doesn't flaunt and I mean she treats this like a game, there's nothing I can think of that has negatively impacted someone. She has never played outside of her house, its her "geek closet skeleton", and I have her info. However if it was something I did or done, my account would have been way beyond hacked, and targeted, I have a tradeable smiling mask and two perfect weapons, one being probably one of the if not the best in GMS.

It's just blah, I don't know how too gurrantee at least some type of safety and it's frustrating. You play responsibly and get fucked up the ass, you hack, man you make all the right friends and get all the riches in the world.

She still has her bow and i deactivated her account, so it could be worse, we'll do an email change and take a break lol. And steve can vouch for me, she has NO enemies ;-;.

I just don't get it. - Imitazion - 2011-02-13

you can create new emails in names of deactivated emails.
if you had a mail called onlyformaple@hotmail.com, and it was declared inactive, I could go on msn.com and register that adress any time.
after that, all it takes is an information request.

I just don't get it. - Five Second Pose - 2011-02-13

If it was just a password change, it happened to me too. My email was also deactivated until I remembered what it was and recovered my account.

This is frightening. It scares me seeing people who lay low get hacked. There's no way to hide!

If my wife or girlfriend got hacked I'd find that little pineapple (typed as pineapple on purpose lololol) and kill them.
Not literally of course. But ya.

Maybe she got nexon'd?

It's a service provider, not sure exactly, but this is a case that wont work. Were going to do an email change

No they went on the account and stripped it but I have NO idea how they changed it, or even knew her original password, it had NOTHING common or associated with her..

Thats why I'm worried, if they can do that to her, with an email that can exist, any one of us can be shoved up the ass any time of the week..

Nah, I really doubt the company has anything to do with this. I still am skeptical of any type of "database" leak. I just wish I had an answer.

Am I understanding this correctly?
You guys are saying that the hackers can trick the servers into sending the password and pic resets to the hackers own email instead of the linked email?
Otherwise I don't understand the first post, because he said the email was changed, and later said the password was also changed. But you can't reset the password if the email is unavailable. So how can the account owner even log in to know what is missing without being able to reset the ms password herself?

I just don't get it. - Marksman Bryan - 2011-02-13

I am pretty sure there is a hack that let's hackers send a password reset to their own e-mail.
If I remember correctly, that's how ecko got into the GM account last year.

How is it that normal people that legitimately own their accounts are given so much trouble from Nexon just to change the e-mail associated with the account, yet someone just came in and changed the e-mail? That's really freaking odd.

Anyone that changed their e-mail, what questions did Nexon ask for the e-mail change? And what exactly do you fax (lol) to them?

Signature/photo ID, and account ID.

Also at the bolt guy, I just remembered that..but you have to be able to packet edit to change the email I believe. That's not how ecko go thte account though. Gm stupidly smega'd it by accident.
