Need some friendly advice. - >Pineapple - 2011-02-09 So there's this girl in one of my classes that I think likes me as more than a friend. (Sorry if that sounded a bit egotistical) I'd like to go out with her but the thing is I'm not experienced at all at asking women out. So far all of the girls I've been with have asked me out and not vice-versa. As you all know valentine's day is almost here and I feel that if I don't do anything to let her know I like her, she may think I only want to be friends. But I really want to build more of a friendship with her and be more certain that she likes me as more than a friend before asking her out. I was thinking of getting her something for valentine's day just to let her know I like her and would like to be more than just friends but I'm not sure if this would be too soon to be appropriate or something. Or if I should just keep things the way they are right now and ask her out later on, or do something else(?). Any advice is greatly appreciated

If possible, just ask her out on one of the days in the weekend. Otherwise, take it easy on valentine day if you decide to go out. Depending on her likes, you could go with anything from chocolates, flowers, stuffed animals, jewelry, etc. Now as I said, a lot of those choices depend heavily on her tastes and how far you want to go as far as expressing interest. The main reason you may not want to go too far is that you don't want her to feel pressured/obligated to respond to you in some form. Ideally you know her well enough to pick something she'll appreciate, and understand that you do like her, but nothing too extreme. I dunno, it's hard to give you advice with so many variables. Just try to think of it from her perspective and try to come up with something I guess? XP Sorry this probably is far too generalized to help you. Need some friendly advice. - -Ghost- - 2011-02-09 From some of the girls/women I've spoken to they say that they actually don't expect/want anything for ''special'' holidays if they've only been with the person for a very short period of time. They say it's because they feel like the gift isn't sincere enough or that it feels sort of like trying to rush the relationship. Also, another thing to remember is that it's hard to ''go back'' if you've started a relationship ''strongly''; like expensive dinners, gifts, etc. This sometimes makes the person -expect- to get these things very frequently, so if for some reason you can't keep offering these things they might take it as you not loving them anymore, or maybe just less, or even cheating, etc. Start slow, with small but still meaningful things. As far as asking her out, just approach it calmly and try and be polite of course. Maybe something along the lines of, ''Um [insert name], I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me [insert some kind of date, or time, etc]?'' Probably a bad example, but since I don't know the kind of person you or she is then it's hard for me to give a better example. I hope that helps.
