PonDeRing about PDR - StringStrider - 2011-01-27 Lame caps pun aside, is PDR a straight subtraction or is it a multiplication? Like say a mob has 50% PDR, and I have max Combat Mastery, is it: 1 - (0.5 x (1-0.4)) = 0.7, 70% damage, 30% net PDR or is it 1 - (0.5 - 0.4) = 0.9, 90% damage, 10% net PDR? PonDeRing about PDR - shouri - 2011-01-27 It's the first one according to a few old ass threads that I can't remember how to find. If you want to take this with a grain of salt then by all means. There's still a couple of people who believe its the second one, but it should be easily deniable (as in, verify that it isn't) on a hero due to the big difference between 10% and 30% pdr. Really would like to know if this is wrong though. Because all of my calculations have been based off of method 1. PonDeRing about PDR - Locked - 2011-01-27 I literally just tested and both are like.. wrong. I must be doing something wrong here, lol.
Spoiler
This was tested with my bowmaster with just a bow on on rashes. No total damage or anything. Edit: tested more and minimum was 9987. PonDeRing about PDR - Stereo - 2011-01-27 Option 3: 30% ignore pdr = 100% pdr 70% of the time, 0% pdr 30% of the time. So in above example, 10% or 0% PDR both possible (range 9716 ~ 12701). Mathematically equivalent to option 1, just gives you a wider damage range. This is what I suspected from work on Tespia (with a Hero) but didn't get to confirm cause the range was too large (plus combo orbs messed with data collection) PonDeRing about PDR - SaptaZapta - 2011-01-28 Only did a bit of testing, results are here: http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=35844&p=602101&viewfull=1#post602101 TL;DR From what I saw, it's OP's first option. PonDeRing about PDR - Locked - 2011-01-28 I redid some tests as well and didn't happen to get the high maximum I got, so I'm guessing it's the first option also. PonDeRing about PDR - Jellyflower - 2011-01-28 It's the first hypothesis, I can guarantee it. Another way to express it will be (1 - PDrate) + (PDrate * (ignore defense total)), where ignore defense is additive. If your weapon has 15% ignore and you're a hero with max combat mastery, it'll be 55% defense ignore. Another way to express it will be Yea I basically set mine up as [1 - (MobPDR * (1 - CharacterPDR))] which is a--in my mind--simplified and rearranged version of what you had. Stereo Wrote:Option 3: Combat Mastery makes no mention of requiring Combo? Why wouldn't you just use unbuffed normal attacks? Or Monster magnet? Low % modifier = Low damage spread. (Then again trunication, which maple is famous for, would increase the %error) In a perfect world it would be additive. It's probably multiplicative such that you don't have a mob with 10% PDR taking 30% extra damage. Oh what a lovely world that would be... PonDeRing about PDR - vx-2 - 2011-01-29 would it stacks together with 'Marksmanship' ? Eg. 15% Ignore Def (from weapon) + 20% Defense Ignored (from marksmanship) = 35% ? |
