Working to become a buccaneer. Was it worth it? - byakugan - 2011-01-26

Right now, I am playing a level 110 Marauder in scania. It's kinda funded as I am using the clothes from my main character. I hadn't had any problems playing with it, I was having quite some fun actually despite being aware of the flaws of brawlers. They are slow, got many unnecessary delays and cooldowns and their best skills are limited (screw punch, energy blast, drain, transformation). Because of these, they are very vulnerable to ksing from other characters (which in Scania is an everyday's thing). It is like any other job can excel me in pretty much anything. I know it was way worse before big bang but since pretty much all jobs got boosted too, I don't think that matters.

After reaching lvl 105 and the release of mechanics, all of this has got so much worse and it is for these things I have began to wonder if it's worth working so hard to become a buccaneer? does becoming a buccaneer pay off all the hard work that it was training the previous 120 lvls?. Are buccaneers that good? Tell me your opinions and what inspired you to get so far, and maybe some advice. I could find motivation in your posts
Excellent

Going from Marauder to Bucc is a big change. It was worth it for me. Trust me it gets much better after 4th Job. Don't let other jobs get you down. Yes Marauders are effing slow but it gets much better when you're a bucc.

I like Buccs so much i got hacked at 14x and did it all over again. Biggrin

Try training a WK before big-bang. ._. Then you'll know what slow training is below 120 >_<

(Not talking about 160+ cuz thats horrible too)

Good luck training with all those mechs KSing your ass... I gave up on training a few of my chars and decided to make a new one since it was just pointless to even try to keep a map.

Oh, one more thing to mention. pineappleing Thunder breakers are better than us during all those 120 levels and even early 4th job...

It's not the mechanics (they could KS me on any character thats not a mechanic too) it's pretty much any other job. As for the "try playing a paladin" i took my crusader to lvl 118 at grim phantoms, before aqua road was released, so i know about slow warriors.

Right now I am training at ghost pirates, but having no speed boosts and energy charge going away every 60 seconds is whats killing the job for me

stupid 380 seconds cooldown in transform...

Its way worth it, you just have to stay in for the pay off.

And since I was a Bucc before BB, i cant give much on where to train to make it less painful.

get speed boosts. It helps a lot more Smile

4th job was amazing pre Big Bang, now it's more spam-y than before, but i like how they are.

I kinda miss the old training style more though. Was a hell of a lot more fun Dragon dancing than : rush--> spam dragon strike --> snatch/rush --> DS/Blast.

I guess that's pribably because i'm a penny pincher and tend to like NOT needing potions. I used like 20 potsions MAX at ToT Pre BB. Now i use the equivalent of 5 times as many in the same amount of time.

You'd rather have almost half the training speed, to save a few potions? That's just not the way to go and you should feel bad to save mesos that way. Potential equipment should more than cover whatever potions you need. >Sad

Currently, resistance and DBs can ks pretty much any other class(and cygnus can ks people under 14X or so).

Having just got Buccaneer(level 123 currently). I can say that 1-3 is NOTHING compared to buccaneer. Third job bucc was just so lame, I liked it from level 70-90 but that's because it was a step up from 2nd job. But now that I'm a bucc, it's more than double the fun. I was able to kill pap at level 120 in like, 20 freaking minutes(givesme around 25% or so), super transform is fun, but currently there seems to be a glitch in the attack speed for dragon strike(need confirmation if it's a glitch.).

Yeah, that's the main thing that holds me back, the fact that DS is a bit slower in Transform, making early level super transform only useful for demolition at bosses, and regular transform pretty much becomes obsolete. The speed and jump buff is nice, but overall I'd say my ass kicking is about equal when in regular trans and when not in trans, and I don't think it should be that way. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

What I liked about Bucc was that, it didn't take a few levels to get right to the good stuff, it was amazing how just ONE level has improved my character so much (119-120), when I was an I/L, it took me about 10 whole levels just to start feeling more powerful(pre-bb, I don't know how good they are now since I sold all of it's equips). Even at level 1 their skills are extremely useful, Time Leap, Demolition, Barrage, Super transform, Speed Booster, all useful at level 1.

I don't regret my choice, I am seeing mechanics do triple my damage, at twice my speed, but I am having a lot of fun with my buccaneer. One thing I really enjoy is Dojo PQ, when I get to manon I super transform and do the Barrage/Dragon strike attack, then when he starts to prepare his 1/1 I quickly use demolition and it doesn't even hit me! Same with pap, his 1/1's never hit me because you can dodge them before they happen.

Another crappy thing about Buccaneer is that, if they are dispelled, their buffs dissapear. Super Transform and regular transform do not turn off, you don't go out of the transformed state, but EVERY buff from it dissapears, you there's no point in regular transform at bosses, I can avoid paps dispelling by going to the top ledge to use demolition, but at future bosses, the buffs from transform are pretty much void for me. I'm not sure if that's a glitch or not but I really hope it gets changed.

TLBig GrinR, You may be bored of Marauder, but that'll change once you start to bucc pomegranate up.
