Hard Drive Seems Too Small - Sleepy - 2011-01-21

So im trying to clean my hard drive to get more room, is a 33g Hard Drive and theres 7.8g Left, i ran CCleaner. I dont understand why theres only 7.8g Left, Alli have is TF2, which is around 12g i think, I've searched through my entire computer looking for unnecessary files, or things left over from installers, Etc, i deleted Microsoft Word for gods sakes, I really don't think that a 33g Hard Drive takes around 13g just for drivers and things.

Opinions?

Yeah, im not too amazing at this sort of thing so just sayin Tongue

Could it be steam? Because it always seems to say "Install" Not download for games i remove.

Im new to steam in general though

WinDirStat can analyze your hard drive to see what's taking up the space.

In all likelihood: system files, drivers and things, page file, hibernation file, etc. It adds up.

My point was, your operating system is taking up hard drive space.

Thank you for this, Yeah windows is a LOT of the space, but thanks to this, i found the culprit i was looking for

It was steam, even though i removed TF2 Beta, it was hiding TF2 Beta files in the regular TF2 folder, almost 4g of em, i deleted em and reached my goal at 12g, and tested TF2 to make sure those files didn't matter. Hint, They don't Big Grin

It's a combination of the OS, drivers, tools, swap space, and possibly other temp files.

There is however a better Drive Cleaner for Windows XP by Steven Gould called CleanUp!... check it out at http://www.stevengould.org (Note: do not use this tool with any OS other than Windows XP or earlier)
