Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - ItzLouis - 2011-01-18 After Big Bang, I haven't really played my DB much and I wanted to know which skill is best for bossing (Also which macro skills combo would be best). For example, I'm hoping to pap a lot and would like to know which skills would I mainly use. I have CoH maxed thinking it would be a good single target attk, but I see in videos that many people use Upper Stab only. =/ Upper Stab > CoH? Here's my current build: Lvl 143 Dual Blade I think I messed it up badly, but I'm hoping to reset it on the next hot time event. Everything skill before 4th job is maxed except Triple Stab, Double Stab, Disorder, and Nimble Body 4th Job: 30 Thorns 30 Chains of Hell 9 MW 1 Venom 2 Final Cut 1 Sudden Raid Edit: Forgot to add, which 4th job skills should I have maxed for bossing. Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - ultimax21 - 2011-01-18 If I were you I'd drop MW, the bonus from that is too small to get before your other main skills. 4th job build for DBs for bossing should be 1) Final Cut (2x more dmg and this raises upperstab damage as well) 2) Thorns 3) Chains of hell From there, you're free to pick whatever you want, if you solo a lot get MW next, if you don't then get mirror target for the avoid effect. Chains of hell really isn't that great until you get it maxed or at least some decent lvls in, I recommend maxing before using though. Also, it must be just me but I don't see very many bossing videos of Big Bang update for DBs, and the ones that I've seen all use CoH for bossing. What I don't think you understand is, there is a delay before you can use another CoH so people normally use 2 upper stabs before they can use CoH agian. It's also hard to control and use CoH effectively, unless you know what you're doing. If you're fighting a boss like scarlion you can be lazy and macro a DS+CoH+US, you're just gonna end up 1 skill short thats all but, it works for lazy people and less stress on your fingers. Just be sure to watch that your DS is still on after CoH so you can throw out another CoH before your macro finishes. The DS not wearing off can also mess up your macro so keep that in mind. Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - Grey - 2011-01-18 I macro US+DS+CoH, I know it seems pretty similiar, but you can get into two upper stabs with that one macro if you tap an arrow key right after you tap the macro, so, for example, I tap macro, it does Upper Stab, slightly tapping an arrow key cancels the macro, and then I just press the macro button again. But that's pretty convoluted, and I just end up pressing a seperate button for upper stab in between. I have it set up so I have the macro on S, Upper Stab on C, and then Chains on D. I just tap whatever buttons are appropriate. Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - ItzLouis - 2011-01-18 So I'm assuming the Fatal Blow + CoH combo isn't worth using anymore? (Sorry I haven't really logged onto my Dual Blade character since Pre-BB >.<) And thanks for the Upper stab + Coh macro, I'll definitely use that. ![]() I guess I'll wait for the hot time event to reset my SP to max Final Cut. To be honest... this is WAY better not having to worry about DS being on and getting hit. With normal DS its easier to get out and 100% sure the macro will always work. Probably not a good thing but w/e i might change it after chaos xD Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - ArbalistMaster - 2011-01-18 you can pot in DS after BB Best Skill for Bossing (Dual Blade) + SP help - ghostofhalo - 2011-01-18 ArbalistMaster Wrote:you can pot in DS after BBAt first, I figured this was just for Dual Blades and Night Walkers who can stay in Dark Sight, but yes, this is true. It's so much less dangerous to walk around in Dark Sight now. My only issue is that you can't cancel Dark Sight without using a skill, attacking, or right-clicking the icon. I use to enjoy pressing attack to cancel and it wouldn't attack. At the very least they could make it so Dark Sight itself disables it. With Dual Blades, I wouldn't get too comfortable. Yes, what has been stated is usually the way to go with Dual Blades, but keep in mind that Restructuring in a few months (around 4, so plenty of time) you get revamped to have an ability that's similar to Savage Blow crossed with Brandish and lose your critical buff in favor of stance and more weapon attack. I'm still not exactly sure how the changes were balanced as much as it was completely redesigning the class. Yeah, in chaos update, you get 1.5x more dmg if you get hit while in dark sight, so having it on should help a lot more. http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=28939&p=634150&viewfull=1#post634150 Notice how this DB casts dark sight a lot? Concerning the advanced dark sight activating or not, I prefer to have it activate sometimes rather than never at all. Sure it might screw up your macros but, if you're good at paying attention then every now and then you can score double CoH before you would need to restart your macro again. This is the main points to the CoH DPM. iAmFear Wrote:I macro US+DS+CoH, I know it seems pretty similiar, but you can get into two upper stabs with that one macro if you tap an arrow key right after you tap the macro, so, for example, I tap macro, it does Upper Stab, slightly tapping an arrow key cancels the macro, and then I just press the macro button again. Tried to test your macro, its almost as bad as me manually just letting it do double US (although I use a macro by itself for this skill too), if not worse. Then again, maybe its because I don't like releasing my macro key and pressing the arrow key to restart this combo. My main issue is I'm too busy concentrating on making sure the 2nd upper stab comes out with that macro to pay attention to the extra CoH that I could be doing, so in my case it rules out. Well, I can't say whats best for everyone though it really is personal preference, I just like getting the most damage out of it, so it relies more on my control of the character. Yeah, I can't say I'd recommend the arrow key method, but it's an option, though maybe a more difficult one, I suppose (my timing sucks). I'd say just stick to spamming a US+DS+CoH macro in whatever order if you're looking for ease. I usually end up doing macro, then I glance at my buffs during the animation for chains, and then I either chains or upper stab depending on if DS is still up, then repeat, with another upper stab if I'm able to get in another chains, and there's usually a bloody storm thrown in there at some point if I get knocked back. It's simple, easy, somewhat mindless and mechanical. For me though, spamming upper stab would probably be a better choice, seeing as I haven't maxed chains, nor will I probably ever in the new few months (I lack any desire to play any of my characters above 110), but chains just looks awesome. |
