Katara Potentials - Cydonia - 2011-01-18 Just curious on how the certain potentials work on Kataras in conjunction with Daggers. Say a katara has %atk, %damage, %critical, 30% boss, etc. Do those only apply to the katara or to your main damage range? If it just applies to the katara alone, will this change in the Chaos update (when the damage forumla for katara/dagger is more combined)? Katara Potentials - SaptaZapta - 2011-01-18 All potentials apply to your entire stats. %attack, for example, applies to all your attack (dagger, katara, gloves, cape, pendant, medal, belt, rings, shoes, Blessing of the Fairy, and I believe also temporary buffs such as attack potions or skills). Katara Potentials - Worthyness - 2011-01-18 everything adds as if it were another piece of equipment. The only thing that doesn't stack would probably be total damage + boss damage (if your dagger has those same stats as well. I.e.- dagger with 30% boss and katara with 30% boss does not equal 60% boss. it's still 30% boss only. It would probably be more useful to have potentials for attack and Luk over anythign else. Katara Potentials - SaptaZapta - 2011-01-18 On a weapon, it's better to have %attack or % overall damage (or % boss damage) than % primary stat (luk, for thieves). This is because %luk is additive over all your gear, so the more %luk you have, the less each 1% adds to your damage. For example: if you have no %luk gear at all, and finally get your first item with 3% luk, your damage will go up 3%. However, if you already have 100% luk, and recube some item to have 15% luk instead of the 12% it had before, you will only gain 1.5% damage, because your total luk goes up from 200% to 203%. %attack is also additive, but since it can only appear on weapons, you're not going to have a lot of it. So having 9% attack on your katara will probably increase your damage 9%, but having 9% luk on it might only increase your damage 5%. One thing to note is that % overall damage does not show in your damage range, as displayed in character stats. You must add it yourself if you want to know how high you'll really be hitting. Katara Potentials - ultimax21 - 2011-01-18 Currently things like 30% boss applies separately from your dagger so to see a full 30% effect, you need it on both your dagger and katara. This is because daggers and kataras do separate hits. I'm not sure about the % dmg though, but the luk should apply to everything. In chaos update, this changes and makes your katara as if its a shield and will stack with your dagger. So this should mean that you would only need 1 30% boss to have full effect. Best would be 30 boss on dag and 30 ignore def on katara. Other way around is good but i think shads would prefer boss damage than ignore def, for resale purposes Katara Potentials - ultimax21 - 2011-01-18 Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:30 boss and 30 boss won't stack anyway, so 30 on dag + 30 on katara will be same as 30 on either. They never did stack. Currently, if you only get 30% boss on one weapon only 1/2 of your hits is going to receive the bonus. They work separately and have separate bonuses, your damage range shown on a DB is not your true damage range at all. Things like % luk should stack but, I'm not sure if the % atk stacks for both weapons as a bonus as well as % damage. In chaos patch, this no longer applies so yes you're free to do as you wish. |
