I've been thinking about this since I got to know that it had cooldown on potions.

That, plus the fact that it has TONS of other spells.. makes me wonder about something.

Is such a boss even defeatable?

Considering how Pink Bean, which doesn't have any cooldown on potions, was so hard to defeat legitly, a boss which casts even more spells and makes it impossible to use potions regularly (the cooldown is also long Tongue).. would be really close to impossible to defeat, even with strategies and such.

What could a strategy for this boss be?

Now, look at this level 200 Marksman on KMS:

He died a few seconds later. They probably had no strategy or what-so-ever, but still.

Is such a boss fight possible? Do they want us to buy hundreds of wheels, or what?

Because, really, that's the only possible way to defeat her I can think about (not like it's any easier to survive at Pink Bean without wheels). And 1 hour probably still wouldn't be enough.

Potion cooldown seriously breaks the fight and makes it more or less impossible. You have to be constantly healing or you are fairly much dead. I would hope they don't add this to GMS any time soon. Even with a few Bishops supplying heal, even they need to use potions to restore HP and MP from Magic Guard absorption.

If so, then they have officially started adding premium content which requires Nexon Cash and Cash Items to complete. Not cool if this is what that is. If it's a normal content that just challenging, they are seriously brain dead to think a Potion Cooldown enabled fight is completable in MapleStory. Even at other bosses and normal training you sometimes have to heal right away or, well, you're dead.

Are you certain it's a wheel being used there? I was thinking maybe it was like DRPQ in that you just respawned in the same / another room and could resume after dying.

The Corrupted Empress - Locked - 2010-12-31

Could the boss be threatened?
Does it cast any self-buffs? (Damage reflect, etc)
Does it cast any debuffs? (Zombify, Seduce, etc)

I haven't really looked that much into it.

Just bring some bishops with HP equips and have them turn their MG off.

The Corrupted Empress - Veneni - 2010-12-31

Just run with paladins only. Problem solved Big Grin

99% certain, considering that the pop-up looks the same and that I've seen a video of someone on KMST buying free wheels from the Cash Shop.

Another possibility would be to have a Buccaneer use Backspin Blow > Barrage > Backspin Blow > Barrage..... on the summoned job instructors and keep them away from everyone else so they can focus on killing Cygnus Empress. It'd also be possible to have someone of another class shove them all into the corner, if you want the person to possibly survive it could be a Paladin. Though having one person be the sacrificial lamb, assuming the bosses would continue to attack the one character like most mobs do after they've died, is another possibility. For looting it'd be possible to have someone with a pet + some move with invincibility frames loot everything that's near the Job Instructors.

Though it's possible this wouldn't work out too well if the different status effects can still hit without needing to do damage.

That could work but if it did I doubt anyone would be okay with a boss that only 1 job can kill....

The only way to SURVIVE would be to have a party of only shads and battle mages, all casting their damage null skills each one at a time, making the party almost untouchable.

This however would not defeat the empress, only allow you to survive.

It'd probably be harder to find high-leveled people of the right jobs willing to do it and organize the whole run than the boss run itself.

I know of very few groups in Bera which are organized enough to do something like that.

But that isn't enough, and there'd be the need of a specific strategy, to survive and kill the boss.

The potion cooldown is only the first of a series of difficulties which make the boss run nearly impossible.

Let's remember about the spells. I don't know which ones specifically, but I heard it casts DR, Zombify, the skill that makes your screen dark and you can only see your character, and several others.

Cyanne was great at elaborating strategies for bosses like those. I wonder if she'll ever make one for this.

I wonder about the potion crafting skill... If they are planning to introduce potions that heal over time instead of instantly mabye?

Just a thought.

The Corrupted Empress - Liteness - 2010-12-31

thank god for aran and drain (:

The Corrupted Empress - Solarboy - 2010-12-31

Thinking about it. A party of 6 is not enough to defeat this boss, I mean you would need every single buff to even be able to survive long enough to deal damage. Evans could be usefull for the fight, since they have a 20% magic reduction skill, and then there is their shield skill, as well as the shield skill wich erduces damage by 30%. Holy shield would be really necesary as well.

Keeping this in mind, each party should have:
An Evan or a Battle mage
A Bishop.
A DK obviously.
A paladin.
A shadower.
An Aran.

While those guys can deal nifty damage, pure damage dealers would be needed as well.

The Corrupted Empress - hamad138 - 2010-12-31

I think Aran has one of the best situation here. With a Bishop he would survive easy

This. Seriously? Just grab a couple of bishop slaves Rolleyes.

Just a thought.

50% heal every 5 seconds over 30 seconds and costs an arm and a leg?

If I'm not wrong when the empress summon her knights she goes to the background, and it seems that the real problem is that each instructor do a whole chunk of damage (saw Mihile doing 12k) plus summoning a whole bunch of his/her knights (each doing around 5k).
May I ask does she really summons more than on instructor at the same time and any instructor more than once in the whole battle?

Also, is this the only vid there is of this boss? Because if it is then the only problem we might have is the whole pot cooldown which I'm sure people would find a way thru it, since we now have tanks and a bunch of defensive and recovery skill.

I love how there is a 1 hour time limit.

It also makes me wonder what the Black Mage will be like.

The time limit isn't the problem at all.
