As I said in the video, when I jump down with a keyboard, it's like normal; I do a short hop and go off the platform. However, when I use a controller, I leap up, as if I'm jumping normally, but when I go to land, I fall below the platform.
Does anyone else experience this?

If you're using xpadder, assign the directional keys with the directional keys on the keyboard and you will do the normal jump down animation.

I'm using the in-game joypad option. I have no idea why it would be causing it with that. lol

I also experienced this and assumed the in-game contoller option was bugged. The option in-game doesn't let me assign enough keys to make it useful, so I stuck with xpadder. Zero problems with xpadder.
