Black Bars on each side of screen - Shen - 2010-12-20
Ok, so whenever i play a game, not just maplestory, and it goes into the fullscreen mode, i get these two black bars around my screen. This only started happening when i updated to windows 7. When i was on windows vista, the game took up the entire screen. Does anybody know how to fix this? I think its some kind of setting with the graphics card that i need to fix, but im not sure how. Here is a picture of what im seeing to clear it up:

Any ideas as to how i fix this?
I have an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card if that makes a difference

happens to me too on my 17 inch laptop. my guess is that it has to do with the resolution since MS only seems to do have two settings.

this used to happen to my sony laptop. I hit some... Function+key that was on the keyboard and the screen expanded.

You should be able to just type "CCC" in the start menu search bar, to bring up Catalyst Control Center. I know there is a way to stretch the screen in CCC, but I can not - for the life of me - remember how to do it.

Ok maybe i dont have it, it sounds familiar though. I typed CCC and nothing came up. Blah

You should be able to download it from the AMD website. I do not think there is any other way to configure it, otherwise. I could be completely wrong, but I know this is the case with my laptop - I have an ATI Radeon 4200 HD.

Ok it didnt help, it was apparently already on full screen, not centered. Still no luck.

Okay, try this. Enter CCC in basic mode. If your CCC starts in advanced, just click the Basic button at the bottom left. Go to the Quick Settings tab, highlight the Notebook Panel Properties on the left side, and click go.
Edit : Forgot a step. After highlighting Notebook Panel Properties, click "Resize the Desktop to fit the display panel" on the right - THEN click go.

AHH i fixed it. CCC is what helped. Here is what I did for anyone who has the same problem
1. Download Catalyst Control Center
2. Open up the windows control panel and change your screen resolution to something smaller than what you have
3. Open up CCC
4. Type in Scale in the search box and click on what comes up
5. Click on Fullscreen, ( if its already selected, click on something else, save that, and open it again and then click on fullscreen)
6. Go back to control panel and switch back to your normal resolution
Problem Solved! The reason you have to change your resolution to something smaller is so you will be able to select fullscreen in CCC and then when you change back to your bigger resolution, CCC thinks its the smaller resolution and will play games fullscreen (if that makes sense)

*They made a new version of CCC which looks like fisher price designed it, so you cant get that advanced in it like in the older version
