Did anybody else get one of these? I know they made 60,000 units but not sure what kind of demographics they chose.

Web based accounts/storage is just as unstable as files stored on a physical hard drive. And until nexon provides support for chrome OS, im never seeing myself with a Chrome OS based laptop.

It's not hard to rip it off. I've already switched it into Dev. Mode and was able to probe it. The physical components would be easily supported by Windows.

@Delicae: Good luck! It's nice, made nicer by the fact that it's FREE. :p

EDIT: You can enable Caps Lock with the button they replaced it with, haha.

Unless I'm missing something obvious here, I have no idea why someone would want this in its current form. A web browser cannot pass as a full-fledged OS, even less so for people like Southperry users who want to play games. If you could dual-boot into Windows and have Chrome OS as an instant-on partition, then I could see the use.

There's no doubt that cloud computing is going to become more important in the next few years, but Chrome OS feels like being trapped in a hot-air balloon over the ocean.

AFAIK Southperry users have other interests besides playing games, perhaps new technology (cloud, anyone?) comes as an interest to some (like me). I have a desktop for games.

Anyway, it's possible to dual-boot. Chrome OS is too limited to keep just that on there. I need Linux or Windows.

This isn't about practicality, its about testing new hardware from a new company. I really want to see how Google does computers. They've done a good job with everything else they've made. So I'm really interested in seeing their OS.[/COLOR]

While the design of the laptop is brilliant, stark naked and no branding on it, and I'm glad they took a page out of Apple's design book, I wouldn't be able to use it. Locked into the web just doesn't cut it for me. Webapps are not replacements for actual software.

Wanna listen music? Gotta stream. Video? Gotta stream, and lets remember that most, if not all(atleast 90%Wink movie/audio streaming options are paid Edit some images? Oh, well, you could use one of those photo-editting webapps, but retouching stuff? Forget that. Bad connection/No 3G coverage when you're traveling? Well, that's too bad. Your Cr-48 just became a brick.

Adobe's aware of the issue and is working on it, they've stated.

Also, caps lock is not missing from the OS, in settings, you can toggle the function of the search button as either Search or Caps lock.

Actually it's not like this was probably meant to be anything beyond basic applications like what you expect some business man to use so i suppose they won't be missed

Easy solution is just boot Ubuntu on it. There's already a very very easy guide and if it's in developer mode the OS will take anything self-signed (it's a lot harder in release mode). Take an hour or so to do everything and bam, everything you just mentioned is fixed.

But yes, I completely agree with what you said. It doesn't cut it for me, either. That's why the first thing I did was check how to root it and get into the damn thing.
