I've gotten to the point where I realize, after the time and reading certain information, that I won't be able to continue with Another World due to the creators of the engine taking their servers offline, removing my ability to use their product as the license has to clear through their server for it to run properly. The website has been offline for a decent amount of time, and many of my finds through google point to the idea that they are gone for good. Without them, AW is just dead code.
I spent countless hours upon days upon weeks working on this, and I'm now accepting that it seems the site will not be returning. Proof stands in many ways, to include the site being offline for almost 2 weeks, the creator logging into the vBulletin website but not posting any information, despite the numerous topics questioning the return of the site, and the fact that some of the coders on their team have recently quit.
Sucks, huh?
So, I'm stuck now, $60 poorer with no product to show for it. I'll probably end up removing AW completely tonight, as it's not worth the extra load on the server having it sit there. It took alot to say I'm sorry on this after all the hype I gave for it. It would have been alot of fun.
Where does that leave AW? Open. Despite the wasted time, if someone finds an alternative, be it a forum RPG or a web RPG that I can recreate to connect to SP, I'll consider it. I leave that open to those here. Maybe something exists and I just dont know about it. I'd consider all alternatives, but that doesn't guarantee 100% that I'll start back up if I have to sacrifice alot of the RPG just to accomplish this.
So, the Chinchilla King is sleeping and I'm putting up my creative hat for now. If anything comes about, I'll wake him up and we'll go back to work. Again, I'm sorry...

sorry about your wasted time and money dude, that really bites. we all appreciate the work you put in on our behalf. maybe someday soon we'll find something that can work well with what you already have so you dont have to go to much more expenditure.

I'm not particularly sure what kind of scope you're looking for in your AW project, but I do know of a web-based RPG engine that's distributed under a creative commons license. It's called Legend of the Green Dragon, and I think you can get the code by registering at dragonprime.net. (I'm not entirely sure on this). I believe it's written using PHP and MySQL.
Anyhow, I've seen a few complete remakes of this game into various themes by different people. Some people just mod it a little and keep the game mostly in tact, whatever you want to do. Writing this post actually makes me want to play around with the code myself, lol.
Anyway, it's an idea. I don't know if it suits your needs at all or not, or if the servers could run such a game, but hey, at least it's something.

As long as their server isn't hiding any code that actually makes this thing physically work, it sounds hackable. If you paid for the service and refuse to provide it, they have nothing on you or anybody else hacking it for you.

Hackable, yes, but even if they shut down shop, they see I have something up and running and I could be seeing a lawsuit. As well, they recently updated it with alot of measures to insure it's not just some easy hack. It was with an older version, I guess, but now it's practically impossible and there's no nulled or hacked release at this point.
