So , this isn't dirrectly for me but alot of people have issues installing/updating the game , it either becomes corrupt or the install just wont start. I have two friends who've already reformatted their pcs to no avail, the only way they can get the game is by passing the folder of the already installed and latest client onto their pc. a few people from SP that I've chatted with also have this issue.

so what I'm asking is, from those of you who have a fast upload speed and that have the time/patience and are trusted by the rest of us on the site is to sticky a thread in the tech help section with a link to a .RAR-ed ms folder download of the latest client. my two best friends have been unable to play for 2 months now and Its really ruining the game for me and them and others affected by this.

Please consider this request ~ Thanks

30 mins a piece...x 20 pieces roughly 10 hours? O_O:

Download only pieces that are 100MB's big. Rule of thumb...don't download the latest one (i.e. if part 10 is up there, only download until part 9)

Part 20 should be roughly 2MBs. Use your best judgement, I'm uploading on this end while you download.

Idk if you have this problem but this worked on 3 PCs after all were having problems with "patching" or installing/running.

Completely remove it. Then reinstall but don't RUN ANYTHING. Run the game for the first time from GameLauncher.exe in the C:\Nexon\MapleStory folder and this should allow it to patch (even if the install is the latest), then it should work. This really only works if it's like..."patching" but gets screwed up at one point or another (and it's already on v93).

Update: Everything worked just fine. This error -40 still an unsolved mystery (http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=35625). I heard a lot of people has quited since maple v0.90, when this error -40 started. Thanks one more time XTOTHEL, Couldn't adjust my skills without you Smile

- Hover over 7-Zip
- Select Extract to "Maplestory/"
- Go into Maplestory folder
- Double click on GameLauncher.exe
- Play

A friend of mine had a similar problem with every install/patch. He would have to get the game files already patched from someone else.

After a lot of trial and error, we found out it was a registry key left behind by an unfinished install ages ago. After deleting the value, he could install and patch the game normally.

So try uninstalling and deleting everything MS-related, then run CCleaner's registry cleaner.
