Patching Error - FrozNlite - 2010-12-08

Hey all. So for the past few months I've had an error when auto-patching where, after clicking "Start Game" from the website and having the patcher window pop up, a little box entitled "Patcher" appears with the error "A connection with the server could not be established." I've tried patching at all different times in all different types of internets, so I know it's not a connection error on my end, but the fact that this has been an ongoing issue makes me wonder if it's not an issue with Nexon's end and just something funky with the files themselves.

Now I know the common solution is "reinstall." Yup, did that already, still getting the same message. Next suggestion would be to download the manual patcher, right? Sadly this v.93 manual patcher is freezing at "3/3: Creating Base.wz," and no amount of restarting is helping. So I figured I'd ask here to see if there is a way I can fix the initial server connection error and potentially auto-patch this instead.

Thanks for the help!

I feel like a broken record here, hahaha.

1. Download NXPatcher Advanced. This is a program I wrote. It's safe.
2. Put the three files from the zip file in your maplestory directory.
3. Right click on the BAT file and click "Edit".
4. Change the contents of the BAT file to be "NXPatcher hijack NAME_OF_MANUAL_PATCHER" (without the quotes). Save it.
5. Make sure the manual patcher is in your maplestory directory as well
6. Double click on NXPatcher.bat to run it.
7. Tell me if there are any errors.

I can help you with errors from my NXPatcher program, but I know nothing about how their program works. This is part of the reason why I wrote my own patching program; their patcher program sucks that bad.

My apologies to ask the same question for the millionth time :*(. Thanks for your speedy reply, Paul.

This is what I'm getting:

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g26/gamerdude292/wtppatcher.jpg (Change the p in "wtp" to an f.)

In the upper-right you can see I'm in my Maplestory directory, and in the file list you can see both the 155 MB ManualPatcherv93 next to your BAT file which, as you can see by the terminal window, has the correct information, but something's still wrong.

EDIT: And now Photobucket says my picture doesn't exist when I'm staring at it in my album. FML. Gimme a sec.
EDIT 2: Duh. I named the file "wtp," which is getting

Do ManualPatcherv93.exe as the name of the patcher file.

NXPatcher hijack ManualPatcherv93.exe

Well, Paul, you solved it without needing a picture - kudos!

But now I'm getting "Error: There's an error in your INI file. Please see the command prompt for the error message."

Command Prompt:

"An undefined token 'read:ifbackupfiles' is found in NXPatcher.ini.
--> {read:ifbackupfiles}"

Patching Error - Fiel - 2010-12-08

1. Open NXPatcher.ini
2. Search for "ifbackup = {read:ifbackupfiles}"
3. Change "{read:ifbackupfiles}" to "{read:ifbackup}"
4. Run it again.

I'll get that fixed in the next release.

Well here's the lovely error now. As the patcher kept not working because, as it turns out, my complete re-download of the v.93 client last night was a success, it appears I already have the complete, up-to-date version of GMS installed on my computer. However, the annoying patcher window still pops up with the "A connection could not be established with the server" error box every time I try and start the game from the website after logging in. Any help with this X_X?

Photo of problem reposted from another thread on SW:

EDIT: And even when I try to use the BAT file with the header "NXPatcher.exe hijack ManualPatcherv93.exe," with all of the appropriate files in the MapleStory directory, I now get "Verifying patch header..." followed by "Header incorrect." Lord knows I have specified the right file.

EDIT 2: I've also tried turning off both my firewall and antivirus, and the above image still occurs. :rage:

EDIT 3: JUST figured it out, thanks to basil of all places. My proxy settings in Internet Explorer were checked, so all I had to do was uncheck them.

For anyone else having the problem seen in the image above, you may perhaps be using Firefox or another web browser to access the internet/log into the game from. If this is the case, simply open Internet Explorer and click "Tools > "Internet Options" > "Connections" > "LAN Settings." If the Proxy section is checked, uncheck it, and you should be good to go.

Thank god that multi-hour ordeal is over. Time to enjoy Big Bang for about 5 minutes before not enjoying the lack of an SP reset, and having to go back to writing this essay. Thanks for your help, Paul.

Open up NXPatcher.bat

Change the command to the following:

"NXPatcher.exe version base.wz > output.txt"
After you run it, open output.txt
Paste it in here.

Try this:

Download a full copy of MapleStory Version 0.93.

Check and make sure your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware service is MapleStory friendly.

Check the Windows Firewall or Installed Personal Firewall has an exception for the MapleStory client and updater.

If there are any problems with the Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware search for one more friendly to MapleStory and remove the older one. If an exception for the MapleStory client and updater is needed for the firewall, add it in.

What are your system specs by the way?
