Worst question I've ever been asked - Fiel - 2010-11-24

"Which programming language is commonly used to create and alter webpages?"

A. PHP
B. Perl
C. Javascript
D. HTML

PHP - This is a programming language. It can create webpages, but it cannot alter them once it's in the browser.
Perl - lol
Javascript - This is (kind of?) a programming language - more of a scripting language. It doesn't create webpages, but it's beast for altering them.
HTML - Not a programming language. It is used to create webpages, and arguably can be used to alter them.

Man, talk about a pain in the ass question. I think they're idiots, I really do. Luckily I picked PHP and got it right.

I would've went with HTML since the question is pretty idiotic and the one who made it may be pretty idiotic as well.

Fiel's point is, the person who crafted it is obviously an idiot. Look at his explanation; strictly speaking, none of the answers are correct.

There should be a 5th option: None of the above.

I would have went with HTML, but I do know that HTML is a MarkUp language, and not a programming language, thus the "M" in HTML. I don't know why they'd phrase the question so weird, it's even incorrect, even if the answer was PHP.

Worst question I've ever been asked - Netto - 2010-11-24

I got this right Biggrin

I picked PHP too...but once you gave the explanation, I was like "dam...he's right...what's the answer then? and Tongue 'd at the results."

Technically you can write your entire page in java/ecma script and do a fully dynamic js driven page.

Rolleyes

But on a serious note, where did this come from? :f6:

Worst question I've ever been asked - Nikkey - 2010-11-24

Node.js and javascript. The problem here is the "commonly" which doesn't suit as of right now.

Worst question I've ever been asked - Kunagisa - 2010-11-24

In high school I had a question like this on my test in music class:

What sound does a cow make?
A. Woof
B. Moo
C. Whaddup?
D. Five dollas, pay up

Not joking, his tests were always stupid like that, and he actually took points away if you didn't answer seriously.

A cow saying "whaddup" would be so G.

Perl can create web pages just like PHP can and was commonly used to do so at one time. That makes all four answers valid. I'm guessing this was on some test for a job or certification?

Worst question I've ever been asked - Loose - 2010-11-24

Yeah... I would've gone with PHP too.

They might as well have added Prolog to the answers.

I'm pretty sure SP could come up with worse questions to ask you, Fiel.
