New Speaker System - Berzerk - 2010-11-22 Okay guys, I've been looking at speakers for the past day. Thing is, I don't know anything about speakers. I'm looking for a 2.1 set with 2 speakers and a subwoofer. Thing is, I have no idea how I would hook it up to my computer. I just have a 3.5mm headphone jack on my computer. If I were to buy this set, for example, would I be able to just plug the whole system directly into my 3.5m jack, or would I need to do something else? If that doesn't work, what would any of you recommend? Thanks. :o New Speaker System - rayhovite - 2010-11-23 I think you need to have the available inputs. a speaker port, and a subwoofer port. Most current motherboards have onboard sound inputs. Do you have a slot for a sound card? Something like this: ![]() If you buy a 2.1, you would be using the green and orange slots. They are next to each other in the pic. You need those for optimum experience. New Speaker System - Kalovale - 2010-11-23 What's your motherboard model? Go to Run, type dxdiag and run it to find your "System Model" along with your "System Manufacturer" on the first tab (System). Better yet, just take screenshots or save logs and paste here. Normally, a motherboard should have those colorful circular jacks like the ones on the sound card above. Two absolute basic ones are Green (Speaker out), and Pink (Microphone in). As mentioned above, if you have a green and an orange jacks, you're good to go. Below are those jacks. but onboard.

New Speaker System - XTOTHEL - 2010-11-23 You only need a green one. So you're fine.
