The great Ecchi debate - Pikamemnon - 2010-11-17
I thought I had seen a lot of things in my lifetime but there was this one scene with a banana that left me speechless. When someone 1st sees something like that you might immediately label it as "porn" but hold on for a second. What makes you think that?
The anime will be seen a certain way based on the experience of each individual person but on several levels such an image could be seen as crossing some lines. (depending on what you had seen in the past) But more importantly on at least 1 level, it is nothing inappropriate because she is just eating some food.
I mean that if you cannot see such a scene as simply "an alien girl eating a banana" than you were never really invested in the story to begin with. (episode 2 of the english dub)
Someone on Sleepywood actually made their avatar a clip of the example that I'm not gonna post. (it was brave/ insane of them to do so altough I think that they were banned for it)
I believe a similar point to this was made on SP not too long ago. (I forget who it was though) I normally don't bother with this genre but for this one case I made an exception because in the context of the episode, it really was a brilliantly done moment.

....Is it bad that I've watched this anime before? Sadly, it got boring to me.
Ecchi usually refers to as softcore-hentai. Sexual situations, etc. Doesn't always imply or mean "sex". I see porn and ecchi as two different things. Depends on how you look at something that is being represented to you, as well as how it was SUPPOSED to be represented.

I watched the whole thing lol. Pretty much the only anime I've watched minus things from my childhood like DBZ.

Eesh. Surprised you could watch it.. I think I stopped around ep 8 or 9 or something, I forgot. It's not ecchi as some of the stuff I've seen.. haha..
