Well, surely everyone has once or more often tried to conceptualize the 4D space, so what's yours like?

But if you meant spacial dimension... then something along planes of existence like D&D.
Actually, the example you cited is a mild version of 4th dimensional travel, whereas planar travel is a more extreme example. It's not really different from other dimensional travel. For example, if I take 3 steps, I'd still be within the confines of my room. If I went 1 mile, I'd be at a school. If I went 50 miles, I'd be in the ocean. 1500 miles, some desert... And if I decide to go a few dozen lightyears into space, I might end up on some planet named X2-870 or something that looks nothing like Earth.

I've only gotten as far as reasoning out that the 4th dimension is made up of an infinite number of 3D shapes.

I'd picture the 4th dimension to be something akin to using noclip on certain game cheats. 5th would be to instantaneous travel between two points, and eventually multiple entities existing simultaneously.

Well that's basically deduction from the lower dimensions, isn't it? Infinite points make a line, infinite lines make a surface, infinite surfaces make a cube, infinite cubes.. is like infinite points, just bigger? No, you have to line the cubes up in the new direction to make a 4D entity, the picture in my head, no matter what I do, is still grouping them together in a 3D space.
Plane of existence sounds more like the "alternate world" thing than a spacial direction to me. Surely you can move from Inner, Ethereal, Material, Astral, Outer Planes, to the Far Realm and backwards, but up to 3D, hasn't space been infinitely large?

Yeah, it was. That's why I said "that's as far as I got", since I haven't the foggiest clue what an infinite number of cubes look like.

My mind can only go as far as this:
- 4D would be like time and space folding into itself. You know, you have x, y and z directions to go, or to place yourself in, but a "w" direction would be folding into itself. No matter how you travel to x, y or z you could end up in the same place or a totally different one. Best concept I have picturing this, sort of, would be Echochrome, the PSP game. If you can youtube that you could kinda grasp what I'm trying to explain. Pretty hard to express it with words actually.

How far can you go after all 'directions' are already uncovered? If there is such of a thing as a 4th-Dimension, it would be something like warping or ripping apart dimensions (silly assumption).

Oh lord. At first I was like "but that's just parallel dimensions, not a new direction of movement", then I wtp'd. Then again, this is making use of the 2D presentation of the 3D space, much like how "you" look at everything and it's gonna be a straight line in front of your eyes in 2D world. A circle in 2D world would be an infinitely long line for one inside it.
Still pretty damned fun regardless.

Ah, I remember that vid, pretty good stuff as far as explanations go.
As for me, I just tend to think of things in terms of calabi-yau shapes. Oddly makes things easier for me despite how impossible to visualize they are. But dang, this thread reminds me how I haven't done squat as far as keeping up with the latest theories over the past 5 years. Hell, I founded a theoretical physics club back in high school and I can't remember half the stuff I discussed back then already even though I still have the book I got my info from right here with me. The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene if anyone's interested. Good stuff right there.
