I've been in a bind for a while. And I need help picking out a power sup., and some serious changes to this. This + Power Sup is about 550$ so somewhere between 500-600$ range of price could really be helpful. Any help would be appreciated.

Salvageing:
Case, CD-R drive, 27 in. T.V. with Two HDMI and One VGA.

1. you're getting a laptop harddrive? o_O?
2. I'd get at least an i7

3. How confident are you assembling? Have you done such things before?

I suggest this hard drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&Tpk=Samsung%20SpinPoint%20F3%20HD103SJ

It has lower latency, reads and writes faster.
It's also cheaper.

The RAM is overkill. Get some cheap Mushkin RAM.

Drop the i3, you want at least an i5.

The Corsair VX450 is enough for your needs.

Well, since you're going for budget, you might wanna try AMD.
However, if you want an i5, get the i5 760 Lynnfield 2.80 GHz. With cheap cooling (Cooler Master 212 Plus), you can get to 4.0 GHz overclock easily.

Got a good idea for Budget AMD?

An AMD Phenom II x4 9XX, black edition. These are meant to be overclocked.
I don't know much about am3 socket mobos, sorry.

Thats fine, So a AMD board would be better than an Intel for Budget building... I see.
