Doesn't need to be. Disgaea is one of the few games / series that does extremely well for being 2D rather than 3D. Plus it's what makes it so unique compared to others lol
Rather stoked for Disgaea 4. Think it might give me an excuse to get back to 3 and attempt to beat Baal on max SEBs =/

I only played the first and second ones, and love the crazy and weird gameplay, I saw Axl in the trailer, so I wonder how this will conect to Disgaea 2.

You mean the small sabre-cats?
Yeah, those are in Disgaea 2 (PSP), disgaea 3 and Prinny. They're kinda Mid-tierish monster types that gain better damage rates based on their move-level. Their skills are epic though.
What I like is the look of this game is the new monster fusion system.
