Maplestory SHEEP - Birdie - 2010-10-25

Sheep is a game about matching your answers to a list of questions with the answers of the other players. Games can be played with any number of questions, 10-20 questions being the most common number. It is a very simple game to play, and I feel showing a short example will be the best way to explain.

***Example***
Q1) Name a primary color.
Q2) Name a US president.
Q3) Name a NFL team.

Each person who wishes to play would then send a pm to the game runner that looks like:

Blue
Obama
Jets

Do not number your list or put anything other than your answer and only one answer per line.

Scoring the game is done by grouping any matching answers and giving a group of 3 matching answers 3 points, 5 matching answers 5 points and so on. The aim of the game is to simply get the most points by matching your answers.

***Sample reveal***

Q1) Name a primary color
Blue-4
John
Paul
Sarah
Bill

Red-2
Jack
Mary

Purple-2
Bob
Liz

So everyone who answered blue got 4 points, answering red would have gotten you 2 points, and 2 points to those who answered purple. Pretty simple. Notice two people answered purple, which isnt a primary color...Doesn't matter, sheep has no wrong answers, just try to match.

So now that everyone hopefully understands the game, on to the real questions for this game!

1. Name a 4th job class. (GMS classes only, thief, warrior, mage, archer, pirate sub classes only)
2. Name a GMS server.
3. Name a type of throwing star.
4. Name a major boss.(sign up/private map)
5. Name an area boss. (FFA boss)
6. Name a maplestory fan website.
7. Name a mob found in Leafre.
8. Name a reverse weapon.
9. Name a town on Victoria Island.
10. Name a famous player.

Research is allowed, no talking to other players about your answers. Once again to join, just PM me an unnumbered list of your answers. Feel free to ask any questions that don't hint at your answers in this thread, PM any questions that you feel may interfere with game play.

EDIT: Deadline for entering is Wednesday, Oct 27th at 6pm EST.

So the right answer is the one that's most picked or is it one that you choose?

Maplestory SHEEP - Jon - 2010-10-25

The one that has the most votes. Or whatever. I think.

The right answer only in the sense that it is the answer that will get you the most points is the most popular answer among those who entered.

so, the goal is to answer the question in an attempt to get the popular vote, and how many people vote for an answer determines that answers point amount worth, and at the end the person with the highest point total wins?

There is no voting. People will blindly submit a list of their answers and I will group matching answers together. The more people who you match, the more points you will earn.

Maplestory SHEEP - Sarah - 2010-10-25

Oh well, I'm playing. And I play to win...

How long is each round? Waiting for a week for everyone to finish submitting PMs is kind of ridiculous.

ah, ok. interesting indeed.

Maplestory SHEEP - Locked - 2010-10-25

Unless I'm misreading.. Popular vote = most point value?

Maplestory SHEEP - Jon - 2010-10-25

I'm playing antiSheep. Lowest amount of points ftw. :3

No voting, just submitting an answer you think will be commonly answered by the other players. So taking the example question about colors, 9 people were entered into that game, so each of the three questions will have 9 total points to award. Since 4 people all PM'd the answer blue, they all get 4 points. Had all 9 people submitted different answers, everyone would only get one point since no one matched.

That's too easy, put some quantum physics/otherwise ridiculous thing for every category.

Maplestory SHEEP - Blaine - 2010-10-26

I suppose I'll give this a shot.

Maplestory SHEEP - sicnarf - 2010-10-26

Hey, I've played this before. I'm in.

Maplestory SHEEP - Kalovale - 2010-10-26

I'm in.

Maplestory SHEEP - larmie - 2010-10-26

Sent my answers in; huge disadvantage to never having played the version ,_,

Maplestory SHEEP - SaptaZapta - 2010-10-26

Are you doing automated string-matching, or also looking at the answers and normalizing spelling?

For instance, if you were to ask "name a training map", the answers "lower ascent", "LA", "lower accent", "wind raiders", "wr", "windraiders", all refer to the same map (and I can think of other misspelling of "ascent" that I've seen people use). Does that count as sheep or do you have to match the exact spelling everyone else is using?

Maplestory SHEEP - Holypie - 2010-10-26

I'll play then.
