News around the world - Slaking - 2010-10-20

I've wondered about this for a while, so I supposed this was a good place to ask this.
Living in Europe, I don't know how the news is outside of Europe.

Does the news in your country mainly focus on countries around you or around the world in general? I'm especially wondering where the news focusses on in Asia and the Middle-East.
And on which subjects does the news in your country focus?

For me, I have the idea we generally focus on other European countries, the stuff that happens around Iraq and Iran. And the things that Europe finds normal and the USA is discussing about (Gays in the army, general health care etc.)

We have domestic news and international news as separate programs on TV here. The international news ranges from A to Z, really, and spans over 15minutes, I think. It varies from Middle Eastern war to the newest wtfJapan, anything goes.

Eh, here is mainly local stuff, mixed with South American stuff, sometimes Mexico, the US, seldom Europe. What happens in the Middle East is pretty covered as well. However, we get zero to none info about the far east.

U.S. news is almost entirely local. Unless something relatively big happens elsewhere in the world it doesn't get much coverage outside of dedicated cable news channels.

BBC America's news is probably one of the most comprehensive and least biased sources of daily global news in the U.S.

Channel News Asia pretty much covers everything in the world at different times, it includes music, bloggers and etc..

Vasantham(Indian), Suria(Malay), Channel 8(Chinese) and News 5 Tonight(Channel 5, English)covers mostly local and brief happenings around the world.

Local - ASEAN countries but mainly countries like malaysia, singapore and indonesia itself.

RTL4 has good outside news, but it's mostly when sometime big has happened, small news like changes in the government(unless it's a significant one) don't reach us here. But uh, if you have digital TV, you probably have BBC too. That's your best bet.

Also, you can watch RTL4 shows you've missed on their site, but you'll need Microsoft Silverlight. http://rtl.nl/service/gemist/home/
