DCing router - Five Second Pose - 2010-09-23
Didn't want to jack Harry's thread, so I'm making my own. My laptop seems to disconnect from my router a lot. I also run a wired connection from the router to the desktop computer, and that one never disconnects. I have a D-Link DIR-601.

I doubt it's the router.
What kind of computer do you have, and what specs does it have?
Windows Key + R -> msinfo32

Update drivers. If that doesn't work, have you tried looking for an updated firmware on your router? Because I had a very.. very.. similar problem last year, and updating my router's firmware did the trick.

Are you using DHCP on the Wireless or did you attempt a Static IP?
If you are using a static IP address on the wireless and DHCP on the wired, it might not have released the Dynamic IP address yet. Double check your settings for the wireless card.

I recall attempting port forwarding, I think those settings are still active on the router.

Try turning off any port forwarding or port triggering if you have any setup.
Also I did notice the WLAN IPconfig settings showed no DHCP. Check your WLAN card settings for any pre-configured IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways that might be preregistered. Also make sure if you have an option in the Wi-Fi settings "Connect Even When Router Isn't Broadcasting" set to enabled and make sure you're router's SSID is broadcast as well.
There's a long known bug with Windows XP regarding SSIDs not broadcast by the router that can cause XP not to see the router (this only applies if you do in fact have XP) or see other routers instead of yours.
