Gonna be buying a new laptop - iamflip - 2010-09-23 Well... more like it'll be my aunt paying for it as a birthday present to me, but that's besides the point. She has the money, and I get to choose. I have a total budget of $800. This accounts for tax (and S&H if it's online). I'm somewhat picky at what I'm looking for, but in general I'd like to be using the laptop for hardcore gaming anywhere. I've found a few goodies like a 6 GB RAM Asus in Best Buy (SKU: 9835955) or this Gateway laptop from Tigerdirect, but I'd like to get some difference of opinion. Mainly what I ideally would like to get is: Quad-core CPU At least 4 GB RAM Nvidia video card with dedicated memory +6 hours battery life 32-bit Win7 A keyboard with numpad. ![]() Now, I wouldn't mind if the CPU is a dual-core, and I can work with a 64-bit Win7, but the video card and battery life is essential. Any help for me to decide on something good?
Gonna be buying a new laptop - TKWizard - 2010-09-23 You're not going to get anything decent with that amount of money. Gonna be buying a new laptop - iamflip - 2010-09-23 Your definition of "decent" must be totally different from mine, apparently. ![]() Any other helpful suggestions? EDIT: Found an even better goodie in Best Buy: Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 14" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Slate (SKU: 1006408) Gonna be buying a new laptop - Jamie_Kurosawa - 2010-09-23 Hey flip... any thoughts on this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114924 Gonna be buying a new laptop - iamflip - 2010-09-23 Jamie_Kurosawa Wrote:Hey flip... any thoughts on this one? It seems evenly matched compared to the last thing I found on Best Buy, except cheaper, less HD space, and battery life lol. I don't have a lot of experience with ATI cards though. Does the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 perform just as well as the NVIDIA GeForce 310M? Gonna be buying a new laptop - CrazyNomad - 2010-09-23 i would suggest you an alienware, but the cheapest one start at $799 already. i reccon that Toshiba laptops have a sh'it battery, i would go for Asus, or HP. |
