Minecraft Competition! (Efficiency) - MasPan - 2010-09-22 The goal of this challenge is to take limited resources (whatever you can find/mine) and make something as creative as possible. No texture mods and limited blocks ensures that participants must think carefully about how they use their blocks in their design, especially given that designs that require large amounts of blocks will have points deducted from the score. Each contest will last one week from start date. Current challenge can be found at the bottom of this post Winners receive a spot in the Southperry Minecraft Hall of Fame and a lapdance from Mute Rules: You may not use any custom block skins. You must use the default blocks. You may play on any difficulty, but must play in Minecraft Alpha v1.1.2 (most recent version). Versions with infinite blocks are NOT allowed. You may use any block type you want as long as it can be obtained without hacking. You may not collaborate with others Good Faith Rules (as there is no way to verify, I trust you in the spirit of good competition to obey the following): No hacking No glitching No modifying the game client (custom character skins are fine) To enter, simply submit one or more screenshots or videos depicting your creation. Creations made prior to contest start will not be accepted (good faith rule applies) Entries will be judged on the following: 1. Efficiency 2. Difficulty of design 3. Creative use of blocks 4. Popularity (vote-based) Current Challenge: Replicate a video game sprite using blocks in-game. Start date: 9/22/2010 23:39 EST (20:39PST) Minecraft Competition! (Efficiency) - MasPan - 2010-09-23 Apparently there was some confusion as to why I'm not allowing unlimited blocks - I clarified this in the first post. Also, the reason I'm doing this is to eventually have a gallery (Hall of Fame) of cool structures and designs that people can make under certain restrictions (here, limited amounts of blocks, later speed challenges [short playtime] and creativity challenges). There were also complaints that making things required mining which takes time - no pomegranate. This contest is MEANT for people that already spend a lot of time playing and enjoy doing this. There is no prize, so don't whine about the contest not being designed for you. Minecraft Competition! (Efficiency) - ChaosCorpse - 2010-09-23 I suspect a diamond megaman will show up and autowin. Anyway, no offense or anything, but for art I'll stick to classic. Can't really devote enough time to build up resources in the alpha game to make anything of significance. |
